It's an easy question I think, I didn't see a sticky with general info so that's why I'm posting. What's the best way to submit a new site to the big engines? I don't want to do anything stupid to screw up my listings and all that.

Thanks in advance.

IMO, the best way that you can have your site listed in the search engines is to have a lot of backlinks. Having an already established website (can be your own) link to your new website seems to be the quickest way to be indexed.

Thanks man. So is it pointless to do the "submit site" on each search engine?

The best way to get indexed is to get other sites to link directly to you, preferably linking to your site without a reciprocal link. The spiders only need one link from another site to find you.
