You can verify that it is restorable at the registry's WHOIS site,
    http://www.whois.us

NameCheap or eNom can restore this domain. There will be a fee around $160+

I now have to pay 160.00 plus 21.99 or whatever this is ??

    wow..

and that's proposing my other domains are still back in my account..

Ok I'd like to hear namecheap's word on the matter?

Perhaps since I lost 2 OVT score domains w/ext over this..

and all the headache.. they could restore this for free.. and I pay the 21.99 or whatever for the .in and the reg fee of 8.88 on The name in question..

This is more than fair on my end.. I also suggest Namecheap fix thier system to tell you a billing error is the issue instead of someone trying to log in to the system when they ban you for 90 years.. ??

    OK Richard.. your move

    UD,

will you be instituting 24/7 telephone customer support and fraud for your site?

    If not why not?

because you seem very adament about what a company SHOULD DO. So I am sure you will model it for "bad" companies like Name Cheap right?

no offense to all the "domainers" and others who are self employed and/or working from home

but when you move from self employed to business owner (office overhead, employees and payroll, 1000s of customers) its a whole different ballgame and many many issues that are not easily fit into a living room computer.

For any domain to say one would "pay" for more service is an outright lie -- the reason people (including UD) go to name cheap is because they are the CHEAPEST - period. AND STILL LOOK FOR COUPON CODES --7 bucks a year goes only so far guys --- seriously --- any employee in the USA is gonna cost more than that PER HOUR (if you don't know - employers have MORE than just the wage as an expense)

also an OFFER of 50k is not a CHECK for 50k - so unless the buyer sent you the money, then that domain is worth reg fee -- if that.

We know they didnt, because had they done that, a $100 chargeback from paypal wouldnt have been an issue.

How long have you been taking paypal? it takes a MAXIMUM of a week to verify an account (if you do it by mail!) Its not namecheaps fault you didnt put your account in order. Because I get those fraud things monthly, if not weekly - and all thats taken is the amount in dispute - not my entire account!

Give Name cheap a break - i think they handled it properly - an account that all of a sudden in the last 30 days goes from 10 bucks or less in registrations a month to $100 in a month worth of registrations and then a chargeback occurs -- Any BUSINESS OWNER in the same position would have done the same thing.

THe CEO himself came and tried to resolve it - ON THIS BOARD NOT OWNED BY NAMECHEAP -- I mean why was it even posted here, why did it have to be handled here? Why not with Name Cheap direct? because 12 hours was too little time to get an email response?

And then all of that with threats of people moving domains and lawsuits -- really???

where will you go? Go daddy? wait - you said they screwed you. hmmmm - so who? Network solutions?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

why did you pay with paypal and not a credit card in the first place? Why did YOU have to wait till monday to pay with credit card and not resolve your negative balance right away?

is it REALLY name cheaps fault for protecting their interests?

If anyone has ever been a victim of fraud, you also know, the scammers defend it till the end, KNOWING they are lying, you can only rely on facts, and NC didnt have many to go on.

Little account history, i mean the chargeback itself came from an UNVERIFIED paypal account -how could they NOT think it was fraud?

How is it that RJ knew what the problem was right away and you didnt? OR DID YOU??

You knew paypal took money from your account - so WHY DIDNT YOU notify NAMECHEAP -- why is the burden on them because of your financial issues?

If u had threatened me, while still having a remaining balance due - honestly - i would have said so long also -- because for a few dozen dollars of profit maximum u brought to them so far - Richard lost more money responding and trying to help (because TIME is valuable) than any amount $$ UD can threaten to give to another registrar. Or even a "lawsuit" - which we all know, wont happen.

Who can afford bigger attorneys? UD or NC? it may not be right, or even fair, but in civil matters like this, we all know the deepest pockets win.

I will be very intersted to see, should urbandata grow, if you maintain the "customer is right" saying. In the USA it used to be "the customer is ALWAYS right"

In this global market, where scams about, the customer is NOT right, but they are in charge, to the extent of their purchase.

TECHNICALLY you never purchased the domains - as NC never got paid for it.

UD and many others, obviously never dealt with a chargeback before - Let me tell you, they are the biggest pain you can have. At least with domains, its somewhat i ntangible - its worse on tangible goods, when the person gets the GOODS and keep the money and you get stuck with costs PLUS FEES.

After reading these 5 pages, its hard not to be frustrated on behalf of business owners. Especially since it seems every week there is new "drama" about how a certain "poor" someone - keeps getting taken advantage of.

I dunno, I don't register at namecheap - but after this - I MAY START!

Good job Richard, you went over and above, don't let anyone tell you different, especially when the issue was with 2 other entities (not your company) and your being blamed.

Keep doing a great job - many domainers prefer NameCheap - ask about them.

please forward it! -- i stated my opinion on the facts of this thread -- if you wanted this private you NEVER would have made a PUBLIC post -- or began to talk about me in chat :)

all u do is try to rally people around you - what will it be next week? cuz last week it was another domain you were ripped off about.

if you dont want public attention - handle your issues in private

I was talking about your chat room behaviour for a few weeks now..

Anyhows being that you're on ignore in there It's of little consequence.

Rallying people? People have a thing called free will to make decisions based on "FACT"

I won't start a war with you in this thread and surely not near a resolve in an issue that regards my assetts.

    Richard?

remember the housing.com - how you had "exclusive" on that - then suddenly "oh im just one of many brokers"?

remember the OTHER person who didnt pay for a domain and put you in a bind with paypal?

comon -- do u really think people still fall for the "My site traffic is doubling in growth" EVERY week you say it?

anyone who spends 30 days in chat - knows -- UD stands for Unlimited Drama

blame it on me if you like - but uh - i have never done anything wrong with you - matter fact i listed 30+ domains onto your site -- TO HELP YOU OUT - cuz you
"had so much traffic and needed more domains" -- when in fact its the opposite - you have 1000s of domains and few buyers.

Business is NOT EASY - we all know that - so just KEEP IT REAL - and stop with all the hyperbole.

U get upset with me - but I just happen to be a choleric (sp?) - i speak my mind -- there are MANY people who through PMS and chat when your not there - that feel EXACtly THE SAME - matter fact, thats how I found this thread in the first place - one of your "customers" o.O- who was upset this drama was going on because its ALWAYS SOMETHING!

I will take the blame, but who will you blame next week in chat when you next get ripped off, taken advantage of, misunderstood or harassed?

    O.o

I think your site has a lot of potential - but I also know, you demand more from companies than you offer to your customers.

PS Richard said he was gone a long time ago. I will be VERY IMPRESSED if he gets back involved and EVEN MORE impressed if he GIVES you the domain at no cost.

You might try reaching him OFF of namepros -- you know - via the contact means on HIS SITE????!!!

In case your unsure - try any of the 3 methods listed here: http://www.namecheap.com/contact.asp

stop trying to manipulate or pressure you way by forcing this in a public forum - if its indeed "between you and richard" than keep it off this board.

But that would be less dramatic wouldnt it?

Just pay the $160 and be done with it.. I understand you think you're right and he thinks he's right.. But if you truely did have a 50K offer you would shell out even $1000 if that's what it took to recover the name. That is of course unless your correspondence with ###########.COM 's owner (Not sure exactly what web company is running it.. Didn't research.. Was simply them asking what you wanted.. You asking for 50K and them not responding..

If you do recover the name (and if you don't I'm tempted to snipe it just to see if it really was worth more than a few bucks), I really hope to see a 50K or a post about it being sold under NDA soon.. Otherwise to me you're going to be nothing more than an internet drama queen.

And if you don't have the $160.. More likely being that you're still in your teens and using PayPal to pay for your domain purchases.. Show me proof of a 50K sale.. I'll front you the money for a small cut when it's all said and done..

I believe the ball is in your court UD.. $160 isn't alot to pay for a name that will convert to a 50K sale.

I think like HuskyDomains, 160.00 is so small compared to the 50G you will earn

I have to say, way to much drama in this thread.

Richard and Mike @ namecheap are the easiest going guys ever in this biz. I too have had my account locked for people trying to gain access and the standard is a 24 hour lock, I to have seen the 2099 date but its simply an error and access is regained 24 hours later. If need be email them and they will verify via email and restore your account within a few hours.

I recently had the oppurtunity of having Mike even call me saying that someone was trying to lay claim on my account and they were able to rectify the situation within minutes.

I have nothing but praise for the people running namecheap and there interface. One other thing I can attest to they dont care about other peoples domains its there business to get you to buy and renew with them not take something that does not belong to them ( thats not there style ) If you have a problem with namecheap its most probably your fault.

UD i think you are a cool person, that being said I have got to step in and defend maurice as well now.

The drama surrounding your every move is getting O L D.

Every day it is someone else cheating you over to find your threats of lawsuits and other actions that you will find a harder avenue to pursue than would be worth the trouble.

In the last three weeks it was GoDaddy, then Paypal, then NC, then yesterday in chat you said "does digg.com intentionally hide certain pages so they don't get hits"

I mean come on, you think everyone is out to get you? I mean you are not the president of the US, you are not the prime minister of canada, what makes you so special that everyone wants to cheat UD.

Another thing I must say is that the majority of the statements you make are unfounded totally. You had a 50k offer on this domain? If so pay the $160 make you $49,840 and get it over with. I would speculate there was no $50k offer just a dream of such an offer (btw I know the name and it doubt you would ever see over $100 for it)

But instead you want to take this into a public forum and air your laundry in front of everyone.

I feel that NC was more than appropriate in their actions and that they did an EXCELLENT job and made an ENORMOUS gesture by even commented in this thread you made.

I hate to see someone with so much drive never succeed for skewed business ethics and constant threats of never to happen legal action, and I have seen more than a few things concerning your business activities on NP and elsewhere that could probably land yourself if some hot legal water. But that is not for me to say.

Anyways my suggestion is to handle you business in private, drop then threats and try to work with the people on the other end, and stop the drama.

Cause like i said i think you are cool and have a lot of potentional

The Point is he deleted it... He also treated me as a customer like crap because of THIER lack of customer support. ...I'd like some rectification . It's proven that he can redeem the domain.. I think over the one's I've lost NC should suck the 160.00 .. That's the least they could do for this ..

Igrowyourbiz you don't even know what happened over Housing.com .. I'd tell you but it's old news and still leaves a sour taste on my tongue.

As for you commenting on My Traffic?.. Doubling monthly?

UD = Unlimited Drama?? For what? .. Being brave enough as a customer and consumer to actually call BULLSHIT when I see it? Sorry Igrowyoubiz.. When I buy and sell domains I do it in an upfront / honest way and If I see unsavory practice and experience it I'm entitled and even obligated in my opinion to alert other domainers.

Donlee this whole fiasco is ONE snowball effect involving PAYPAL to GD and on to NC.. Nowhere in this would I ever have sent a Fraudulant payment..
I fully intended on paying for the domains when NC unlocked my account.. However.. I noted they didn't even exist anymore and were still trying to bill for them. ALL it would have took was a simple email stating there was an issue with thier billing dept and it would have been taken care of on my end..

Deleting my domains was excessive and poor customer service considering I would have likely bought in the next year over 400 more domains there.

Igrowyourbiz you might want to check facts before operating a keyboard further.

    Anyhows I saw Richard reading..???

Ah that's interesting.. He's left the thread without a reply..

If Richard is so outstanding.. where is the apology even to the customer..
If I did these sort of things .. from what I've read on other forums too etc..

    I wouldn't even have a customer base.

  18. Just to remain consistent:
    1) Personal issues should be taken up with the company FIRST before trying the public route. If you need help finding a solution, or if you just can't figure out what to do, then posting asking for assistance is always appropriate; but not if the post turns into a flame rather than a request for anything productive. If after some time things aren't resolved, then feel free to complain in an arena that would allow others to be warned. These aren't NP rules, but merely things that I think should be considered as minimally courteous. Personal responsibility still matters to me.
    2) If I was Richard, I wouldn't reply in this thread either ;)

    Just my .02,

    -Allan :gl:

    Personal issues?..

There was no resolve.. My account was locked for 90 years.
Then they tried to bill me 46.99 for domains that didn't even exist anymore
They then locked my account because I decided to transfer away.
They then stole the domains back from the username CVXDES as I had pushed them to the user deliberatly as a donation rather than see NC steal all the domains I had paid for. The user can confirm they were in his account and then dissapeared.
They also know this domain can be redeemed
They haven't even appologised instead turning blame on the customer for thier poor service and customer support.
I contacted them NUMEROUS times and even by telephone and everytime I called during normal business hours I got "Sorry no one is in the office"

I have every right to be irritated

I'd simply like Richard to post what he's prepared to do without any more further negative comments.

I dont blame you getting cheesed off. If i was in the same situation as you are in now, i would have quit by now.
Godaddy sucks... They are blocking a transfer to namecheap for a mates domain. I have the EPP code and they still wont let me.

Anyway, i have personally had no problems with namecheap, and i have no intention of using paypal to any domain registar.

No more paypal either for me which is why Escrow.com is being coded in to Urbandata . It should go live as early as tomorrow.

You know I've yet to post this on my blog, and on screwed.us as I feel at this point if Richard makes a big stride this can still be resolved. It's in his hands now since he knows this can be rectified. I just want my damn domains back minus the two that were already reregistered being that my good one CAN be resurrected.

    I could not agree more.

UD I wish you best of luck getting your domains back out of the redemption period.
I would not take any chances to lose the 50k sale and pay the 160$ fee,:imho:

I'm not taking any sides on this debate. I understand people are pissed off. Fine.

UD: Notwithstanding the fact you may have been screwed, is it really worth your time b*tching and complaining about $160 if you have a $50k sale? Ante up the cash, sell the domain (if you truely have a sale lined up), and conduct your future business at a different registrar.

GD screwed me on a domain that cost me a few thousand bucks. I'm choosing to move my business elsewhere now. Just be happy you still have access to the domain...

It's not clear yet whether I do or don't ... And how this is all going to work. I'm waiting for a confirmation on Richards behalf.

One thing I am 100% sure of is I get this when trying to log in

    Unable to login
For security reasons, this account has been locked due to too many failed login tries. The user name will be enabled after 12/12/2099 EST. If you think this is an error please email us using the same email address currently on your account to have your account enabled.

And all the domains I paid for 13 or 14 of them .. well

I have no idea atm what has happened to them.

    I'll do some whois checks

Have you tried to continue reaching him? Instead of posting over & over in this thread turning it into more of a drama fest, keep hammering the phone. $160 is crap if even a $1000 sale was on the table. The profit is still there.

The agressiveness should be in contacting them, not this thread.
