We had two children die in adjacent counties. In all cases, it's been more of a complication than anything - ie: the last girl, bless her heart, had bronchitis + pneumonia which came along with H1N1. I've known personally of 6-7 people with it now, and I suspect that number is probably larger and will only increase.
Unfortunately this thing goes right for the lungs and attacks them the hardest, and I'm afraid it's not so much a more virulent strain as it is attacking the kind of people not used to being sick as much. It's like the flu, but with more respiratory force...
The bad news is that it needs to be watched, if you get sick, take care of yourself quickly. Disturbingly, I know of at least one person who they refused to give Tamiflu already. Not sure if they are stockpiling for worse or what.
