On the face of it there is indeed a very funny sense of oxymoron going on here.
Bit like 'ACT Naturally', SOFT Rock', 'PEACE Force' 'PRETTY Ugly' and 'FRIENDLY Fire'
On the ground, it's actually a pretty neat idea. Talk Radio is an actual national 'talk news' radio channel in the UK and all they've done is increase their audience by adding a visual component to the studio. You can listen to the shows on your radio but also watch the show live as well. This is not an uncommon thing in radio.
But that isn't what is being launched here.
TALK.TV is a whole new actual TV channel being launched, with a lot of money being thrown at it.
The redirect to RALK Radio is most probably to keep it in the Murdoch world before it launches in the new year.
On a more serious note I would assume that if 'talk' is another way of making a cheap to run news channel - then the quality of actual journalism - People going out there and filming news instead of sat in a studio making half-arsed guesses about real events - will suffer.
If this thing is successful, you will probably only have to wait a short period before SocialMediaTalkNEWS.tv ends up being launched by someone. Forget actual news, the social media spin on every real world story is so much more interesting.

As for the use of .tv - I'm already a massive fan - and the millions of Twitch.tv users most probably agree it has a bit of a future.
