Hey all figured with the recent .io 6 figure sale and the nice .xyz sale by a follow NP member. We should open a showcase and discussion thread here.

Metaverse is a fast growing keyword, term and niche! Let's share and discuss our name and news.

I've only got One to start with but its a GOOD one my favorite ending keyword on most names.

MetaverseHub.com

Welcome! :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I would compare "Meta" with "Crypto". When a specific website has the prefix "Crypto", you know it's crypto(currency) related. When a specific website has the prefix "Meta", it might well relate to the future metaverse, our digital mirror reality. So when I see the website Meta //Shoes (.something), I know I can't buy "normal" shoes, but only shoes for my digital identity/reality.

Apart from that, some established or new companies might be interested in the "Meta" term from a branding perspective.
The analogy isn't quite the same. Crypto, from a branding or keyword perspective was almost non-existent before the crypto boom. Meta on the other hand, has been, is and will continue to be relevant from a branding perspective with or without the Metaverse

The analogy is about making a clear distinction between "new" worlds/realms and "traditional" worlds/realms. Crypto makes a distinction between traditional FIAT currencies and cryptocurrencies. Meta makes a distinction between our normal physical universe and our future digital mirror universe.

It doesn't matter that "crypto" and/or "meta" were or were not used from a branding perspective in the past. Words have the ability to constantly change their meaning: e.g. see "Apple" and "Amazon".

But wouldn’t you say that MetaPay, MetaTech etc are great brands irrespective of the rise of the metaverse?

Conversely, we might agree that metapettingzoo.com (random example) is not going to sell because it has no relevance as a brand either inside the metaverse nor out of it?

I think there could be value in the aftermarket in a few months time when a lot of the recent meta reg’s are dropped in price by disillusioned sellers.

But should we be looking for ‘brandable’ meta names only?
The first paragraph you mentioned describes what @FolioTeam stated earlier about the prefix meta being around before the metaverse, and would give your (2) examples substantial branding regardless of the rise of the metaverse.

Great sale @BostonDomainer

There's polls on NamePros for best registrar of the year, if there was a poll for domainer of the year, you would have my vote. You've turned a few hand-regs (and non .com's) into mid-5 figures sales this year, I'm guessing you have made well into 6 figures just hand-registrations alone, quite amazing really!

I've never seen people do that in my time investing, but then again i haven't seen a niche take off like 'meta' has in the last month or 2.

SOLD

Domain:
Meta FB./net
Sale venue:
Sedo
Sold Price: $30,000
Listing type:
Make Offer
Purchased Price: $5.90 handreg
Hold Time: 38 days
Date Purchased: 09-17-2021
Sale Completed: 10-25-2021

Details: I handregged this name right after I had sold the exact Meta FB .com hoping lightning would strike twice and it sure did. The buyer made an initial offer via Sedo of $30K, he left his email in the comments and wanted to negotiate for the name which seemed weird. Seemed like a scam to me so I just clicked accept just in case before the weekend and forgot about it and didn't expect the sale to go through at all... low and behold yesterday I get an email from Sedo that they had secured the buyer's funds.

Strange times!

As for the buyer, it is not the same one who acquired the .com.

Hot niche and still very much in it's infancy!

no further details.

Happy hunting!

Wow congrats. Just wondering.. based on your meta .net sales, do you think metaterrestrial.net has 5 figure potential?

Thanks gents, that’s the clarity I was seeking. Think I’ll stick to brandable meta names, rather than metaseacucumber and other random suffixes that seem to be the go-to trend right now!

My response was to this

I would compare "Meta" with "Crypto". When a specific website has the prefix "Crypto", you know it's crypto(currency) related. When a specific website has the prefix "Meta", it might well relate to the future metaverse, our digital mirror reality.

Just doing a simple Google search comes up with

MetaBank : A physical bank
Metafarms: An agricultural company
Readmeta: A site about motorcycles
Metageek: A WiFi and accessories website
Metastar: A medical health website
Metadental: A dental practice website.
Etc etc

I don't see these brands and think Metaverse related at all. Using your example, MetaShoes is a great name for a shoe brand which basically means "Beyond Shoes" (which will make a great tag line). However, I don't look at MetaShoes and think that I will only be getting an nft of some pair of shoes or that it is a site to buy shoes for your Metaverse avatar.

But when I see brand names with crypto in them, first thing that comes to mind is cryptocurrency related. The Google search results will also attest to this.

On the other hand, if I see a Metaverse +keyword website, then yes, I can see myself thinking that way.

Thanks mate. Appreciate the kind words. I know of at least 2 other domainers that has had similar success off new regges but they can't reveal. If anything I've been underselling lol ;) I'll leave it at that.

Who has MetaVlog.com? You have to check this out!

So, I grabbed MetaVlogs.com, MetaVlogger.com, and MetaVloggers.com after I discovered the first Vlogger of the Metaverse:

If one person can do something like this, what could a company like Facebook be capable of? O_o

I think I’d probably write ‘metaversable’ as opposed to ‘metaverseible’, so the prognosis isn’t good. But I’m often wrong on these things….

Although it's not directly metaverse keyword related, I think versatile.io will be picked up by a metaverse related brand. This is due to having "vers" + dictionary word + perfectly describes the essence of the metaverse.

I usually see versatile almost always accompanying metaverse in articles when describing its use and tech. I've had it since 2015 and considering increasing the BIN but I thought £69,420 would be nice as it's suitable for the niche..
