So we know that the metaverse is going to be huge. One area in particular that is going to be massive will be the digital goods ecommerce side of things. One area I haven't seen discussed much but see names disappearing from my large scans are avatar and skins domains. The buying, selling, trading, and modifications of avatars and skins are going to be very big business. This segment of digital goods is going to be the bread and butter in the business plans of many new and existing meta companies. Facebook and the like have learned from the gaming industry in that offering free to play or free to use experiences and charging for micro transactions in the forms of upgrades, mods, avatars, skins, parts etc is big business.
Also, the gamification business model is growing as companies bring those mechanics into the business world in the form of avatars to increase collaboration and also to engage customers via avatars and other modes.
I strongly believe these trends will continue. To date, my largest acquisition in the meta space has been an Avatar+Keyword domain that I acquired last month. Hopefully we can all eat well as this new and exciting landscape continues revealing itself. Just my opinion, time will tell.
