McCain for some reason thinks that the tactic of aligning with the right wing religious nuts is going to help his cause in 2008.
Thankfully this hypocrite is completely wrong and the fundamentelists will be a negligable force by then.
People are already starting to realize that religious extremism is no better if it is "christian" than it is if it is "muslim".

HH do you really think that the majority of those voting Republican are that far-right? I am voting McCain for sure. I been a Republican for 12 years now. I definitely don't consider myself far-right yet I support Bush in most arguments. I just see the far-left as against my grain but that's also how I see the far-right. McCain has a chance to reel in many middle of the roaders on both sides. IMHO...he stands a great chance of being President.

IMO, McCain is the one chance the Republicans have in 2008... unless Colin Powell decides to run ;)

No, I don't think that the majority are that far right.
Never the less, Bush was able to be elected by sucking in the small percentage that are that far to the right.
I just think it is a shame that McCain feels the need to pander to the same wingnut base.

I have an incredible amount of respect for McCain. I think it is tragic what bush and the sleazy karl rove machine did to him in the 2000 primaries.
It just seems like a recurring theme for these people to canibalize their best people only to put weak minded boot lickers in charge.

If I were a: American and b: Republican I wouldn't hesitate to vote for McCain given the choices.
Other than Richardson in New Mexico, I don't think there are many Democrats I would vote for ahead of McCain.

Yeah, I think McCain would be a lock in 2008 at this point... unless there's a Clinton - Obama ticket forthcoming. It'd be a tough row to hoe then, but still winnable.

They could possibly help bring the Republican party back to the old days of Glory, as it were.. trouble is, I hear Powell won't run.

I think Powell could be convinced to be VP...I don't believe he wants to be President. If these 2 pair up there will be strong Republican leadership that might bury the Democrats for good. This combo could imho swing Americans so far to the GOP that Dems will have to run for cover. Maybe I am over emphasizing a bit but that's politics ain't it?

IMHO McCain will not win anything when it comes to the US Presidency - In the last few years he has been such a fence sitter or unsure of what his opinion is - I find him almost aligned with Kerry. Who I find will never win the US Presidency along with Gore.

I would say that Giuliani, Pataki or Romney to win for the Republicans.

Btw majority of the religous wing nuts are in the South East or Mid West. Most are Democrats and you do not see Gay marriages in any of these states. And for eye openers Romey who is Mormon and Republican is Govenor of Massachusetts. And runs a one of the few states that recognize Gay Marriages. So that all right wing are wing nuts. Try again.........

What would be gained by burying the Democrats?
I don't get the logic behind this kind of partisan thinking.
Why has it become such a hardship in the US to just vote for the best people?
This is a pretty sad commentary as far as I'm concerned when people don't give a rat's ass about who they elect as long as it's not the Democrats or as long as it's not the Republicans.

It will be a far better day when people start to vote again for who they think will do the best for their country and leave the name of the party out of their decision making.

Well, the idea behind partisanship is you expect your elected officials to advance the tenets of your party (i.e., Less Government).. but I agree with you.
