Marketing & Advertising Methods - Tell us: Which works better for target marketing?

Just curious...

1) Which marketing and advertising methods seem to work better for your type of business and which methods do not?

Feel free to include your reasons why it was or was not worth the investment, without slamming a particular service.

2) If there is a method you haven't tried because you believe it probably wouldn't work well for your business OR there's a method you'd like to try in the future because it seems like it would produce acceptable results, please provide that info as well.

3) Also, if you had a bigger budget and/or an investor or partner, what else would you like to try in order to better grow your business?


Please include both online and offline (e.g. local, print, etc.) methods after first describing your business in generic terms and target market without providing an ad pitch.

i try everything anything legal and free.
1. i find forum posting/sig/avatar, classified ads, blogging, social bookmarking, search engines, directories, ebooks, software works best for my sites. You have to do it with commitment and dedication. It can be done all in one day and suddenly you stop it.

2. promotion thru customer support and cross-selling i have tried but not with good results.

3. i would get into adwords, become a merchant at adbrite, primaryads, shareasale, cj, linkshare, reporting, if i go into that any site would be unstoppable if budget are not a question.

when you post on forums make sure you have your link in your sig with relevant anchor text. That will help you rank high on search engines

You've pretty much covered all grounds! I'd have to add social network marketing, article marketing as well.
