Hello
I did do a search on this and sorry if its been answered elsewhere.

So I have had a few Dan.com lease to own domains automatically migrated to GoDaddy due to there buyout or partnership.

Which all seemed fine however GoDaddy have now have slapped a lease service fee of $140 a month (per domain), contrary to my original contract with Dan.com. Is there anyway I can fight this? Its a long lease so I'll be paying quite a bit over what I original agreed to.

Buying out the domain is not an option.

Any help much appreciated.

Godaddy is notorious for violating their own terms of services and contracts. They don't care, best thing you can do is stop using them altogether. You can sue, but is it worth the effort?

And $140/month fee for LTO is just outrageous. They really are scum.

My favorite part of renewal-time at Godaddy... is transferring domains out. (y)

Agreed, I have only gone with them for bought domains that were already with them or for easy transfer etc.

Fee or Tax?

Use Dan transaction to ask them to reach out to buyer if they would pay out early for % discount.

'Lease service fee'. I get that they can charge this to there own new customers but absorbing a contract and amending it I think is wrong. ..... thanks for suggestion

Hi @JohnPeters
Thanks for sharing your experience. For any support on your transaction, GoDaddy’s support team is ready to assist at godaddy.com/help/contact-us.

After a quick look at your domain name, it seems your first payment through GoDaddy matches the total of your last payment at Dan.com. The difference lies in the invoicing: GoDaddy itemizes the service fee separately, whereas at Dan.com, it’s included in the final total. Though the presentation varies, the totals are the same.

If you have more questions, feel free to reach out to the support team at godaddy.com/help/contact-us. They're happy to help!
