Hi guys, I’ve got around 15-20 domains. Had close to 50 but let many of them expire. I’ve kept a few but recently I’ve been thinking I just want to put domain buying behind me. If I can get 1 good sale I won’t feel that bad and just want them gone. mom losing faith in them but then I’m very lazy, quick at buying them but not making any effort in selling them. I don’t even know where best places are to list them.

this is my list, some I’ve still got, many I’ve let expire, please let me know what you think any advice will be much much appreciated...

This is new to my ears. Wouldn't the .com be taken before the 10 other extensions?
every day dotcom names go to exp. auctions or drop that are taken in 10+ extensions

He means the case when you are in the pool of catchers for the top quality dropped domain, and then enter the bidding war to get it (that's where 600 is coming from). Then for sure it can be taken in 10 other extensions (never ever it's the case for hand-reg). For what he suggested you have to go to DropCatch.com , mainly.

That's true only if you can sell for more than you bought them though.

.co.uk is a strong extension. Probably outnumbers .com for usage in the UK. If the OP is from the UK then trying to sell the local extension isn't a bad idea in theory but only if they know the market they're trying to sell to and have the names the market wants. I agree that in most circumstances .com is the way forward but going with other extensions isn't aways a death sentence for a domaining career.

If I’m honest it became like a gambling thing which I feel I was kind of addicted to.

As I see it, you have three options. First is to let your domains EXPIRE and find a more profitable activity like a JOB. There's no shame in bowing out from a loss-making enterprise. Next you can try and SELL your domains, which looking at them honestly most won't sell, so your time will be wasted. Last you can go and buy affordable web hosting package for 20 quid a month with a good reputation, then start BUILDING sites on your best domains. It doesn't matter what system you use to build at the start. Wix, PHP, Wordpress, Blogger. Just get a site ONLINE and start building. You have plenty of time to develop your sites and all the answers are waiting for you online right now.

It's not gambling, but it's also not a solution for LAZY people so be forewarned. It should go without saying that you want to bite your leather instead of registering any more domain names. Make some profit before you visit the domain checkout basket again.

Don't buy or register anything for next 6 months.

Learn and research thoroughly. Your deep research will save you in your bad times.

Good luck.

@wajray007 I'll pick on one - you can go from there.

There are lots of big printing firms in Leeds. Bradford too, but Leeds has more. You have LeedsPriniting.co.uk. That is a great domain name for a directory site. Either develop it or sell it to somebody who wants to develop it - I'm assuming you're fairly local or you wouldn't have picked those cities? So you should be able to find a buyer.

Once all the print companies' names are listed, you can sell premium listings (make their names stand out, for a bit more than that put their stand out listing at the top of the list, etc) plus adverts from firms both local and far away. A regular income ready for building.

Now, go back through your list and think of good business applications for each one of the names in your list. Some don't have any. Just list those on NameLiquidate.com and those that don't sell, just let them drop. The ones you have identified a business case for, you have found a target market for each. You try to sell each domain within its target market. @redemo has already given you a great start, but brainstorm some more. I've just given you a different idea for LeedsPrinting.co.uk, for instance.

Good luck!

To my pal @Samer and all the other unbelievers, .co.uk and more recently .uk are highly valued in this country. There is an active, vibrant, small but growing domaining sector here specialising in only those TLDs.

".co.uk and more recently .uk are highly valued in this country. There is an active, vibrant, small but growing domaining sector here specialising in only those TLDs."

co.uk is a MAINSTREAM domain within the United Kingdom. co.uk is used extensively by leading broadcasters, newspapers, brands, sports teams and businesses of all sizes. Similarly org.uk is BY FAR the leading choice for G.B. charitable organisations over .org, it's not even in question. Prove me wrong.

I think the reason people in other countries like U.S. and A. might not UNDERSTAND the dominance of .uk domains in G.B. is that they're only served .com on a daily basis. So someone in U.S. and A. would never see a .uk domain unless specifically looking for a British business that ONLY used co.uk.

9,569,305 third-level .uk domains under management in 2021, that's a Nominet statistic nominet .uk/news/reports-statistics/uk-register-statistics-2021/

What are the most POPULAR websites in G.B.? According to Similar Web similarweb .com/top-websites/united-kingdom. Well the data shows that above 33% of top 50 G.B. websites use a .uk domain. If you remove the 15 social media and porn sites which do not have a co.uk alternative, then there are actually MORE .co.uk domains in the top 50 than .com (16-15).

@Samer Americans didn't invent English with short words. The English and their ancestors invented English with words collected, merged, borrowed and stolen over thousands of years. Then Amerians decided to create a NEW language called U.S. and A. English, frequently with shortened words from original English as was the norm amongst yee haa cow herders galivanting around on horseback through the wild plains of Kentucky.

Back on this side of the pond, and with our friendly Russian submarines skulking around, why should we change our words just to suit another country? Same goes for our domain extensions because co.uk is the most trusted domain in G.B. Why should we use a less trustworthy and less relevant domain extension?

You'll get there I bought some real crap in the beginning , don't mix letters and numbers unless it has a deeper meaning like 420 sports for example ;) Most of the time just don't do that. I like these three and you should keep them or try to sell.
boxingbonanza.com
quickdomainsales.com
Also the two Spread the cost domains.
It was said above but definitely focus on keywords with high traffic potential or a dictionary phrase that is brandable.

I have heard a lot of these jaw-dropping handreg domain sales are either based on insider knowledge of an upcoming product's name/brand (which is an edge case scenario) or, the buyer is really well aware of a new potential market (are you aware if these keywords are valuable?)

I don't see any of these domains falling into the new tech categories like crypto or NFT bubble

For example, domainers who were quick to act on the Defi and NFT hype ended up making hundreds of thousands of dollars selling weird names during this bull run. Have you analyzed these bubbles?

  • EV tech. We think renewable sources of energy like Tesla have huge potential. Have you registered any names in Electric Mobility sector?
  • Crypto - I consider this the most potential performer, it's a big bubble. Analyze project names - Defi hype has led to a craze of Food+Token/Swap/Exchange combination names like PancakeSwap.com, register food name + swap.com variations as many as you can (I'm sure most of them are taken by now, see the trend?)
Most people won't reveal what new things they are regging so once in a while you can bulk analyze any new keyword domains which domainers are regging through domain analysis tools. Think of a good strategy, test it, rinse and repeat.

I won't disclose my sales but I've sold quite a few crypto DeFi names ;) I've been regging food/animal/generic word+swap.com names since I heard about SushiSwap, and it paid off.

But handreg means big risk. You can't be certain this would have reseller value or, any value if at all. Take care, and invest wisely.

Cheers

I hate to say it wagray but you said your lazy. Domaining is not a place for anyone who is lazy. It takes many people years of hard work to develop the skills to become a good domainer. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck!

The key to domaining is the price paid for the domain or the domain name hand registered.

Research keywords, trends & consider buying domains on the aftermarket.

Cheers
