If you did a search of something and it says for example

mycomputerbreakdowns.com was searched for lots of times a day would you buy this because it has good search keywords or not bother because the names of the site is not good?

if it has a high search rate - sure you'd go ahead and buy it. Either park it or develop it, just make sure you have the right marketing / promo procedure to make it popular. Long domain names are hard to remember..so make it catchy ;)

Long domain names wont make a difference to traffic if your site gets most of its traffic from search engines.

When you have a short domain, there is a chance for development which might result in a higher revenue than PPC traffic. It not only has a higher chance of development but also a higher face value when you eventually decide to just resell the domain. But if you decide to rely your revenue only on parking domains with PPC or adsense, well then you might not mind a superduper long traffic domain which eventually pays for itself.

i think the price of a domain based on the amount of searches it gets.... if its long.... is not what you should base buying a domain on, unless it highly directed and spercific and likely to get you high paying click throughs (some porn domains).

I think whats in the domain name is only one element of getting a high SE ranking. Especially with google.

I agree if your traffic is coming from SE domains can mean nothing. Its the quality of the site that matters.

I think a long domain name is just as good as a shorter one as long as the former is keyword-rich, clever and easy to remember.

I think some longer names are better than the shorter ones and sometimes make more sense

When you want to register a domain name for potential typein traffic, ask yourself if you would type it into your browser. This domain would be lucky to get 1 visitor a month who will quickly leave when they realise there is no link to download Windows Vista for free.

I think long domain names need to be easily remembered. If the long domain has lots of traffic than buy it.

if the name has good key words, obviously the domain would be a good buy. as for the site, you can easily develop it further yourself.

It's not enough for a domain to have good keywords, they have to make sense.

Are "mortgage", "insurance", "finance" and "discount" good keywords? Yes.

Is "mortgagefinanceinsurancediscount.com" a good domain name? No.

but the reason (right or wrong) that I bought it was that xpdownloadfree was searched for many times :? and that dosn't make sense either :|

If you mean you checked the Overture tool and found results for "xp download free" then you should know that quite often the words in those search results are often displayed out of order.

For example:

Search for "cellular phone" and you'll see in the results:

98607 cellular phone plan (makes sense)
7593 cheap cellular phone (makes sense)
4064 cellular free phone wallpaper (doesn't make sense)
2311 angeles cellular los phone (makes no sense)

Now do you really believe that people searched "angeles cellular los phone" or that they searched "los angeles cellular phone" ?

Likewise you'll notice that the Overture tool groups both singular words and plurals. Search for "windows games" and you'll see:

3188 window game
1304 free window game

Obviously most people searched for "windowS game" or "windowS gameS" rather than "window game" but the results are grouped together.
