London Times: Web squatters exploit Madeleine campaign

The McCann family have condemned the “typo squatters” who make money from advertising links on the bogus websites. John McCann, Madeleine's uncle, branded the people behind the websites "parasites" and accused them of trying to cash in on the family's heartache

Very bad news, as usual acts of a few individuals soil the name of the reputable domainers.

Wherever there is something that effects a lot of people, there will be cybersquatters, and other people registering domains in bad faith.

I wonder if all these news organizations desperately looking for someone to crucify realize that a $1500 UDRP on the name would unmask any privacy protection.

I feel for her parents, I really do, I have a 3 year old daughter myself and could only imagine. But, I would *NEVER* ever do this:

Last night (3rd May 2007) Kate and Gerry went for a meal at a tapas restaurant, checking on Madeleine in their nearby apartment every half hour or so. When they returned at around 9:45pm GMT, a window was open and Madeleine was gone. Staff and guests searched the holiday complex into the early hours of the morning, but failed to find the missing toddler.

Perhaps one of those "evil squatter" sites should be turned into a one-pager on why leaving your 3 year old in an apartment while you go out for dinner is a bad idea, particularly in a foreign country.

Yes but you must feel their heartache at the moment especially after being named suspects by the appauling Portugese authorities.
