Do you think .li can be marketed to companies in Long Island?

The reason I am asking is, I have a finance-related .li domain; I think it could be marketed to Long Island companies... But I am not so sure.

For people who live in Long Island: which one is more common there, website.com or website.li ?

:'(

I lived in Long Island for 6 years (up until late 2004) & continue to be out there & have never heard of .li I also have never heard or seen of anyone or business using it so .com is definitely king.

You can try, but I don't think you won't get very far. You'd have better luck marketing the .la to Los Angeles or Latin America or .vg to Vegas than .li to Long Island IMO
