Its enough that we were treated like thieves with their attitude !
They can do their special EAP pricing so domainers cant get in early.
They can set very high prices on renewals..but we can stand TOGETHER and say ENOUGH!

Its time to BOYCOTT THEM (!!)

Time to BOYCOTT new gTLD's !!

Part of the plan would have been for us to create their secondary market by us buying their not top Premium names and then reselling it in the secondary market. We would be the agents to create awareness too. Enough of that!

WE are being USED by THEM !

Facts:
1. As of now after launch Many Premium names have still not been sold.
Including .mom, .poker, .casino,.cars/car/auto etc…

2. There is lots of Choice.

3. The different industries which those extensions target are not running after them!

4. The market is basically dead at this stage.
Very few real End user are buying those premium names at any high price.
We all know the marketing fluff and buzz and “constructive” deals etc…
We had spoken to major players in those industries, and they prefer their .com.
The smaller players in the forums within those fields also dont want to move away, and definitely not spend the money the Registries want.

The price is way to high and doesnt make sense.

Some of the new extensions have been bought out as their model hasnt worked!

5. Beyond that, as a domainer I would like to buy some Premium names from other owners or just buy from the Registries directly.
However they are charging for renewal and transfers a very high price.
This is done across the board for all Premium names within most Registries.

There should be a CAP and as of now its seems like a Cartel!

We have seen strange things – the Registry price is secret but each Registrar contacts the Registry to figure out the price, and then up it by whatever they want!

6. If they want people to continue buying some of their names for a high fee, they need to allow for a Secondary/after market to exist (!!), as that would give more value and more awareness, which would enable them to to sell for a one time high price. They need to allow there to become a secondary market.

7. Otherwise there is to much choice out-there and you will end up like .tv did for a long time.

8. You need a healthy aftermarket for your names.

However no domainer and most End users dont want to be stuck with high renewals or transfers.
They dont care about your ROI plans.

They compare you to .com and for a good name would be willing to pay a bit more for a renewal or a transfer. As in $100 but not $1000.

As is they will be dishing a one time high fee for the Premium domain. They cant get the budget for renewals too. You dont realize how it works.
Wake up Dontus,Uniregistry !!. They can excuse a one time high expense but to get approval from their finance Dept. for a constant high renewal wont work!

9. As of now End users arent buying into this and domainers wont if they cant sell them due to high renewal/transfer prices.

10. Bottom line- there wont really be an after/secondary market which is what they need unless they drop renewal/transfer rates. Droping those prices on registrations would be great, but they still need to make an impressive ROI.. so they might as well keep those..:)

However make sure that all past registrations of Premium domains and future ones wont require a high renewal/transfer price.

Rightside, Uniregistry, Donuts – you need to rethink this ASAP!

Time for holding ourselves back and not buying any new gTLD's until there is a firm commitment and change.
Rightside is already working on that but its not enough! Donuts and Uniregistry need to join in !

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I don't have an ethical problem with owners of gTLDs charging whatever they can for premium names and renewals. It is their namespace to do so if they choose. As a consumer (both domainer and entrepreneur), I just find it hard to justify paying attention to gTLDs when .COMs are cheaper to renew, easier to sell, and more well known.

I guess they would rather target the small business owners or hobbyists that only have a couple names and can justify a premium renewal cost every year.

There was opportunity for domainers with strings released in 2014, 2015. Now registries do not offer much chance for us to buy/resell keyword names.

I also believe the domain market has never been this uncertain before.

I also believe the domain market has never been this uncertain before.

This is why being a long hold domainer I've been more focused recently on the first strings, have picked up many xyz within auctions etc.. Normal renewal and great domains..

I totally agree the new launches are over priced, they have really replaced domainers but it is what it is and if they miss something which they do from time to time I'll grab it. :)

I've had no problems with price jacking and all my renewals are the same to date as when I purchased them.

A boycott isn't the answer and will never work. Just learn to play the game smart or don't play at all.

There's plenty of two, three word .com's available and .net etc. Go for it and stop the whining...

There is nothing to boycott imo. The registries are already doing a good job at it, and are even working for us .com holders.

No need to 'boycott' any new / old TLD, .top is the solution already.

Why .HOST ?

There are an estimated 32 million different web hosts to choose from on the Web, which means customers have a saturation of options when finding the perfect host, so web hosting companies struggle to outpace their competition.

.HOST is a market-specific TLD for hosting platforms and services, and this TLD provides a recognizable, marketable, and relevant domain namespace. With a .HOST domain name, hosting companies are more visible to their target demographic.

Why .LGBT ?

.LGBT is the first internet address created specifically for connecting with the Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and Transgender community.
An internet namespace that is inclusive, .LGBT utilizes the preferred term itself as a clear way to indicate a site’s content is for the community.

.LGBT is great for businesses, organizations, and other entities that wish to express commitment to and unity with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people. Since “LGBT” is the term most preferred by the community, .LGBT is the internet address that will naturally be most appealing to this diverse audience!

Since it is so important that .LGBT is a safe space online, an Acceptable Use Policy has been put into place that supports LGBT - friendly use of the domain and provides the ability for .LGBT to remove any sites that may be in violation, ensuring .LGBT remains an asset to the community.

When building a site to connect with the LGBT community, .LGBT is the natural choice for your next domain name. Get your .LGBT domain today!

The tragedy of all nTLDs (also of some old gTLDs) - that they are ignored by at least 95% of US-endusers.
So their aftermarket-value is low or even very low.

1
•••
Just one example:
GermanKeyword.info has the significantly higher aftermarket-value than EnglishKeyword.info (except megakeys).

I can agree on this, even from an "egoistic perspective". Crazy high prices are bad for everyone:

Indeed, the domainers are getting a taste of why some of us end-users are frustrated with domainers.

Names we want, unused and unsold for years because the domainer who has it wants 4 or 5 figures for it.

Now domainers are experiencing the same thing with premium ngTLDs.

Doesn't feel good, does it?

Domainers have this false belief that they have the power to change something such as what the OP wants. If they had the power, it would show in the marketplace.
