Just because names are regged in other extensions, really means nothing as for value. I've never hear of anyone who refers to long distance as LD. When you couple that with the fact that long distance rates are going down very rapidly, by the time .mobi materializes, there will likely be few people interested in long distance rates, let alone LD rates...

Agreed. If you think you have a good idea for a reg, it has a good OVT/Wordtracker, has a good PPC, etc, -- then seeing it regged in other extensions may solidify your desire for it. Even so, you should check the extensions and make sure they're regged by different people. If all the TLD's other than .mobi are taken by 1 person, that doesn't really say much for how many people are necessarily interested in that particular name.
