Talking to a good friend of mine who runs a university computer system I asked him what 'Web 2.0' meant to him.
He gave me a very interesting answer - but the thing that really caught my attention was the way he said...
"the .commers would probably explain web 2.0 as....."
It was as though the expression 'the .commers' was being used to describe those who are from another, much earlier, era of the internet. In other words 'the old guys'.
I'd never really thought about the fact that even the 'modern' web is getting quite old now and new stuff (made my funky young people) is moving in to the neighbourhood.
Add to this the fact that I've just sat down to watch TV news for the first time in ages to see the report on the extreme snow conditions in the UK. The first person I see on the show is from a company called techfluff.TV
Putting two and two together it is obvious that without a bIG fanfare the world of .TV is very steadily gaining traction. That movement is becoming impossible to stop.
Long may it continue.
Must add - I felt so inspired by these events I was very happy to finally acquire (after nearly six months of 'haggling') the name WeddingDay.tv.
