What are the essential and non-essential information to put on a Domain Landing Page?

Is there any clear winner as to which marketplace has the best landing pages. With examples and why?

I think Godaddy's new landing pages are pretty good.

#1 rule, don't add links / destinations that will distract from the subject.

#2 rule, have more than one call to action.

Thank you @mr-x. So does this put the kybosh on selling the domain at fixed prices for faster sales theory? What I found personally is that the underpriced domains were the ones that sold best :(

What are those links at the bottom doing? "Do not sell my personal information" and "Privacy Settings". Well it's probably because they are using Google's reCaptcha which does exactly that. Are they saying they've done a deal with Google to not infringe on our privacy. Can I get a deal like that? Probably not. Which is why I'm switching over to hCaptcha very soon. You should too.

Godaddy purchased afternic. They seem to be merging the brands.

Don't overlook the important of your landing page back-end.

Below is one of the screenshot of the back-end system I currently used.
So far I have not see any marketplace had implement this.

Can I nominate our landing pages? :)

Below are all the things we think are essential to have on a landing page that all help improve STR:
    • Name Logo: Logos help listings stand out from the crowd and help buyers envision the name's full brand potential.
    • Marketing Collateral: Highlight the name's best qualities through a short description, pronunciation, supporting keywords, suggested categories, business card/mobile app mockups, etc.
    • Installment Plans: Installment plans help buyers spread payments over time making the purchase more affordable.
    • Make Offer: If you're not sure whether you priced your domain properly, allow buyers to make an offer.
    • Payment Options: Make as many payment options available to buyers as possible so they can use what they're most comfortable with (e.g. credit cards, bank transfers, PayPal, cryptocurrency, etc).
    • Social Validation: Show past customer reviews from sites like TrustPilot and mentions from top tier publications like Forbes, Inc, WaPo, and USA Today to help establish credibility with buyers.
    • Concierge Service: Make buyers feel comfortable with a hands-on transfer process preferably where the payment is handled by a neutral third party.
    • SSL Redirects: Use SSL for your domains so you don't miss out on any leads that come through HTTPS links.
    • Customer Service: Have a real person available to answer buyer questions through as many channels as possible (e.g. live chat, phone, email, contact form, etc).
Here's an example of our landing page (live version):

That landing page is way too bloated in my opinion. Looks too much like an active webpage. Someone might type it in and immediately close it out because they think it's active and not for sale.

    I like simple:

    mydomain.com is for sale!

    [BUY Now] [Make Offer]

Is this a CMS script that's available to the public?

Thanks for your thoughts! I appreciate it. I get the feeling that you're not a big believer of marketing? Let me try to change your mind. :)

Even though you personally don't see the benefits, I assure you that marketing does work. Otherwise, industry leaders in other sectors like Amazon and eBay wouldn't encourage sellers to use thousands of keywords on their product landing pages.

From our experience, there are two types of buyers. The majority of buyers won't care about the marketing collateral (e.g. description, keywords, logos, etc) because they already have their hearts set on the name. However, we're also trying to target the other buyers who aren't committed to the name yet which is where a lot of that marketing comes into play. So there's no downside to it, only a major upside since it's a means to reach even more buyers that you wouldn't have otherwise.

Don't forget, a lot of end buyers don't look at domains the same way you do. For them, domains aren't even worth anything beyond the $10/yr registration cost. A more helpful landing page helps buyers who need that additional push/convincing (i.e. it's a great way to increase your STR).

Can you explain what you mean by "marketing"? Are you talking about ranking in search engines? A parked domain like the example you posted won't show up in Google for broad based keywords. Sure, you could put it in quotes and search "gigapen" and that will show up, but that's more based on the domain itself and any parked page will show up for that, on an obscure keyword.

So if you're not getting "exact match" obscure keyword searches (low competition), where is the marketing on these sales pages?

We tried to be somewhere in-between the very simple "mydomain.com is for sale!" and the "bloated" version of Deven, so we created landing pages that are focusing exclusively on the things that matter on a landing page:
    • The name that is for sale
    • Price or make offer with payment options
    • Logo (if there is one)
    • Contact seller
    • Purchase instructions
We also integrated payment options (CreditCard, DAN, Sedo, Afternic) for a higher trust and flexibility.
You can see some examples on Brandshore.com or Supernames.com.

Is this something public available (where?) or is it your own code?

It's a public available script but you need to have some coding skills to integrate it into your current system.

    Thanks for your feedback.
Let me just quickly justify the price for you.

This is a one time fee, after which you will 100% own the site, you'll get the code and all the integrated features. You get a custom site and You will be able to edit content etc. Most of the stores won't let you do all this (Efty,Dan,BB,BP,etc) or with limited access.
We also integrated CreditCard payment, which would save you commissions. But if you or the client decides to use other payment options, we can offer you integrated Escrow, DAN, Afternic, Godaddy or Sedo payments.
As it is built with the latest technology, there are NO to low hosting fees on small portfolios
Also the site has a perfect score on Google PageSpeed.
    upload_2021-10-14_14-34-3.png

Other main features that are included for this price:

    - Integrated payments with Credit Card, Dan, Afternic, Escrow, Godaddy, Sedo with Dan instalment and 'Make offer' options.
    - Airtable integration for instant and easy spreadsheet management. Orchestrate your domains, prices, logos, description, payments etc from one source.
    - Visual content editing to edit marketing/benefit/about/How it works/Term pages.
    - Amazon Voice Pronunciation for your domains.
    - Dark mode
    - Favorite [❤️] domain functionality.
    - Make offer with IP address availability (end user IP, city country location sent when receiving offers).
    - Google Analytics integration included
    - Spam protection and 100% deliverability for the receiving offers.
    - No Logo for your domains? No problem! Auto generated text logos using great fonts.
    - Free Logo for your storefront main domain on request.
    - Instant search with all the filters you need. (Algolia Integration)

If it's still too expensive we decided to accept also monthly instalment payments.
    Hope this explains everything :)

Do want to direct traffic or explore it. Redirection to one page or individual landers changes amount of time you have to work on domains. Content makes massive difference names i blog on receive 1000'%+ more traffic even if crappy. Slightest content effort will out perform any parked name. Work is rewarded but then it becomes do i domain or develop? After all we thought of it.

    Huh? What does that mean?

Even with monthly payments, it's still quite expensive. Efty is pretty cheap, and Squadhelp is offering a similar marketplace solution for free. So $997 is expensive in comparison. And most people would still want to use an escrow service (which is why this product integrates with Dan, Escrow, etc) so those fees are there either way.

We use Netlify to deploy the code from Github. Netlify is very secure, they are trusted buy highly responsible companies: https://www.netlify.com/security/
You can’t compare Netlify with tradition web hosting that provide CPANEL because they are entirely different things. Netlify is solely based on serverless architecture, with your html, js, and css (aka the website you see) sit on distributed CDN which make them fast to be fetched.

On top of this we are using GatsbyJS which leverages the power of React, relying on solid Modern Javascript foundation used by companies such as Paypal, Bitcoin.com, Sendgrid...

Gatsby sites are safe and fast. Other than this we can do many great fancy stuff that the boys are doing.

Are you sure about that? Alter shows up on the first page for a broad search for "gigapen" (without quotes). Also, try searching for the keyword "checksoul" (without quotes) as another example which shows up in the #1 spot among 85,000 results. Same with "diflix" which shows up at the #2 spot among 132,000 results.

Now of course those are low volume searches so we don't expect a ton of buyers to come from there. This is why we've invested heavily in more generic/high-volume keywords when it comes to SEO. So for example, when a buyer searches for something like moon business names in Google, Alter shows up in the #1 spot among 96,200,000 results.

On that note, the keywords on our landing pages also help the names rank for specific searches on our marketplace. We've built our own internal search engine for business names. Just like Google, our search algorithm uses a number of factors to rank names based on buyer feedback. So that when a buyer searches for the keyword like health on Alter, we show them all the potential names that they can use in that industry and not just the ones that contain the search keyword (e.g. Nursor, Feetz, CareDish, Curemont, etc).

We also run retargeting ads to bring buyers back to our marketplace once they've seen a name on Alter to increase the probability of a sale.

And of course, all of this is just talk if we can't back it up with proof. So on the Alter dashboard, we show sellers exactly how much additional traffic we've generated for them in a simple pie chart:
Oh and the best part of it all? All of this only costs you 10% commission. :)
