Isn't .com the king of all TLDs?

Hi guys,
I was looking in godaddy auctions , and I came across some weird auctions that I still don't understand. People are bidding on .org domains that are available in .com !
I just don't understand why would someone pay +100$ for a domain that he can get for 1$ and it's a freaking .com
is it because the domains are aged ?
Can't we just buy the .com version , so if the .net or .org sold on auction for a good price , we will be holding a worthy domain , as I always believe .com is the king
So what do you think guys?
Those are some of those auctions
greatgarbagepatch.org - 100$ at the moment

marylandbfa.org - 40$ at the moment

boldcoalition.org - 65$ at the moment
https://auctions.godaddy.com/trpIte...link&iphoneview=1&cvosrc=affiliate.cj.4097748

Those three examples available to register (.com) , if you believe .com is the king , you may want to go and register them before someone else

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
TLD and the domain body don't matter here, these examples have SEO-parameters (backlinks etc.), that's why are in demand.

That's what I thought too, but don't you think those guys should register the .com too since they're available ?

No, .com is NOT needed for those guys AT ALL, they need SEO-parameters ONLY.

These aren't really commercial domains anyway. They're "org"anizational. And it's not like they're getting lots of type-ins every day where traffic could be lost to the .com.

In these cases, the TLD doesn't matter at all, the domain itself matters very little, but what matters is, as others already said, SEO parametres such as established backlinks which could bring in A LOT of traffic.
