.tv Is .TV really in being used by startups and serious companies?

When I attend domainer or development conferences, I seem to get asked the same question of people invested in other extensions when they learn about my interest in .TV. Specifically, how many developed .TV sites are out there and how are people using them.

I notice an increased interest in .TV among domainers on NamePros who have similar questions. I felt they might want to know about some useful resources when it comes to finding .TV sites online.

You may type the following into Google:

Site:.tv

I think that a more fun and interesting way to see similar results is go to http://images.google.com and type in the same thing:

Site:.tv

You can also really explore the .tv extension and discover how different individuals, startups, and companies use it.

Yesterday, I saw www.pitch.tv on TV here in the UK. I've seen a few others. five.tv is the most popular I know.

By the way, it is site:*.tv what you type.

Do you know what the difference is when you add the * before .tv? When I am at google.com, inputting * before .tv (example: site:*.tv vs. site:.tv) gives me fewer results. Just thought I'd ask.

ya gotta admit that's a HUGE drop for .com from 13 billion+ to 2.8 billion while .tv enjoys 76.4 million to 35.2 million. Not too shabby for .tv as I am so enjoying it!
