The $1000 premium is obviously a little offputting for what, essentially, is not really a hotspot of tourism or entertainment.

It's probably still tainted with the stigma it received from the following...

Not on my list - and I love geo's

At $1,000 a yr then nobody is that interested as it's a City with very little of interest.
At $1K a yr i wouldn't buy many Uk Cities at all though a large .com Geo owner doesn't see things that way as he owns a couple of average UK Cities with much higher renewals.

I was conned into taking this last year - an availability check advanced straight to purchase without the cart, or prompts about 'how many years', 'email', 'id protect'. Attempts to cancel the purchase failed - though the old premium price check route was disabled as a result.

None of the media players in the City showed any interest so I cut my losses on this one.

The renewal price is the same as it was, but Coventry as a City (11th biggest in the UK) continues its decline - the Engineering heart of England has been reduced to a Motor Museum, with a broken Cathedral, a topless horse rider, and Indian cuisine completing the Tourism theme.

For me it was an expensive nostalgia trip.

Then again ... the following site has a lot of interesting material about the City that might help justify the $1000 renewal ...

So you bought this without knowing it was a Premium, is that right??

I personally do feel there is an opportunity to develop Coventry.tv into something decent as if you look at sites dedicated to the City then their is a lack of any sites that do the usual Geo content.
coventry.com is used for another business, .co.uk, .net & .info all are not used.
If i stayed in the City then i'd really consider in building up a site on Coventry.tv with the usual Geo content of tourism, whats on, entertainment...etc

Unless i had a site just about ready to be launched on Coventry.tv then i wouldnt touch it at $1K a yr.

Prices like this show why .tv is really meant for developers.

I was one of the people you contacted earlier this year about the name when you owned it and really sympathise with how it ended up in your hands.

As the owner of CoventryTV.com I must admit I thought about it - but the reality is that the name really should be reclassified as premium free, or dropped considerably in price, if it is ever to be developed.

If someone takes the name on - good luck. Unless you live there or are familiar with the area you will certainly be on to a loss - as others before have discovered.

No - I knew it was a $1000 premium using the old premium price check i.e. http://www.enomcentral.com/domains/dotTV.asp?domain=Coventry.tv. But this check didn't confirm availability. I found rugby.tv for $25 via this route, wanted to buy it but found it was not available - hence the painful availability check on Coventry.tv. Thought it might be interesting for someone else ... though not for me as I'm not a Coventry TV or newspapaer company and don't even live there anymore .. but I do have investments in .TV.
I agree with all the other comments ...
