The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
In my view:
I believe i register good domains.
If some one wants to buy my domain it is a good domain for him.
For rest of the people my domains are garbage.

In other person's view:
I believe i register good domains.

If you ask if there are any good domains here, then you already know the answer.

Now i am tired of listing few good domains here, no offers are coming through. In names wanted section if i send a pm, they like some of my domains but want them for under $100. So for selling domains namepros for me is not working. Selling Outbound is not easy. Only if i can get some inbound inquiries i can sell some of them. Waiting for my day.

If want good names, you have to pay good prices

There are plenty of good names owned by members here, but they aren't for sale on here because most sell to end-users, not fellow domainers. Domainers just wont pay end-user prices

I like to find what I call "usable" names, for example HousesOffered.com. "good" is such a subjective word, and is really dependant on the buyer's perception. Another example of this is F5js.com. This looks like rubbish, but it seems that quite a few people want to use javascript to simulate the F5 key. This is a very specific application, and that will limit the value of the name. My view is that if I can pick up a name for under $10, and sell it for $100 plus without much effort, then this provides a nice income stream. It won't provide me with a Lamborghini, but it all helps to feed my Bitcoin retirement pot.

I disagree. A lot of names here have great value for the right buyer. :xf.wink:

Curated portfolios (those where the domain investor has had to make the renew/drop decision for several years) tend to have a fair number of quality domains. The disconnect between buyers and sellers is price expectations. Buyers want to buy great domains for $XX whereas sellers quite often want $XXXX for anything they have paid more than reg fee for. In the stock market, if you see a stock which you believe has the potential to rise in price 50% in the next couple years, you probably take that trade all day long. With domains, noone buys a domain to sell it for 50% more than their purchase price. Low portfolio turn is typical with domain investments so some home runs are needed to carry the majority of domains which do not sell. Regardless, one can probably run some queries at Godaddy auctions for certain keywords where domain length is relatively short (two-words max) and filter by price to find some investment-worthy domains.

I would like to add that this forum is no different than namejet , where I see domains sell that have no meaning , domains that make no sense for fair and good prices . On the other hand it is just like pulling teeth selling just one good name at a fair price ... I am not talking retail price , I am talking a fair reseller price . In the past month ( and for another month ) I listed over 600 domains on namejet ( the second time ever with reserves as in the years past I always listed them without reserves and sold each month literally several dozen domains at auction for the starting bid and a few a little higher . ( I see the same names selling again and again on there by a bigtime company )... I thought when I listed them they should sell for much more ... and now they do , but not while I had them .

So I got sick of giving my domains away and now listing them with reserves . And nothing ... a few days ago the auction for iFixed.com ended and i would have been sick of my stomach if I did not had a reserve on it ( it only went up to around $ 500 ) . While I would be able to sell it for a fair reseller price , I am not willing to sell it for pennies for the dollar ... a domain like that brings easily 5 figures enduser price . I sold dozens not even close to that good for 5 figures in the past .

Point to all this is you have to spend money to make money ... most here or at the forum think they can get everything for nothing and people who sell here are stupid and don't know what they have . Well guess again ... we all are in the same boat and we all know what Domains are worth .if you want to succeed... be smart ...be fair and polite , don't lie and don't cheat... one investment at the time .

Please define "quality", do you mean quality to resell or end user quality or quality for development?
For someone only L.com, LL.com, LLL.com is quality, for Chinese 666.com is quality too. Do you look for only ".com" quality or any other ccTLD, gTLD can pass ? Does any "dictionary word" is quality ?
Does number of characters in name define qualtity and what is that number ? Do you mean "brandable" quality ? Do you mean one, two or three word combination name quality ?
Believe me, I'm not trying to be smartass here but I am curious what's your definition of quality domain name? Many people have different opinion about what is quality name and I bet you'll get 10 or more different answers for that question.

As a newbie in domaining, i believe creativity is essential in coining good domain names and people are just looking to get some $ by dishing out 'name" you called "garbage".

How about these names from a newbie:
cupidiliy.com
cumatose.com
Are they garbage as well?

I think it is too late to try to sell misspellings. Especially if they create unfortunate associations - cumatose sounds like a foot fetish porn site. :)

We all understand your frustration, but the more people join the industry the more garbage is going to be on sale! Just simple laws of supply and demand. It's just meant to happen, statistically speaking, If let's say 40% of names are "bad", then when you increase the pool of sellers you will just see more of them! and since it's free to post here then, of course, you're going to see even more of them!
A lot of the marketplaces have commissions, listings fees, monthly membership fees, etc. Whereas on NP, there aren't any!

Basically, don't be surprised, it's normal.

Lots of good names are still here and good prices, just go to look harder :xf.smile:

Type the domain in that you want approach owner buy the domain as end user. Find first 100 expired names compare them to first 100 names on here and I wouldn't be banking on finding one good one in a hundred on the expired lists so you would only need to find 2 here to beat it.
You only see half the forum with 150 posts anyhow.

I love expired domains, there are some real gems in the list, but you have to have to patience to look through and also check the list as they do a new drop. Also so many people moan about hand reg, they are the real gold. Something you buy for £10 that you made up yourself and then sell for a big profit or any profit is what gives me the best buzz.

The best names won't often be offered here. Wholesale is more cleaning out the closet. You will find people with the best names holding out for the right opportunity.

But it all has to do with money ... what part of this do you not understand ?

People have good names and guess why they don't list it here ? Because the tirekickers on the forums and auction don't offer fair resell ... they only offer insulting " im in trouble and I need a few dollars " amounts . I can assure you if it would be possible to sell really good names here , they would be listed !

How long do you think I will continue listing domains like scarab.com and not getting a realistic reseller offer ?

It is all about money ... you show people you are seriously looking for quality domains and they will bring them to you ... just look at the wanted section and see all those ridiculous ads asking people for domains for a fraction of the amount they get at auctions ... and the people the post ads for champagne domains have a beer budget ... ohh yes sir ... it is all about the money !

Finding good names is so easy.
Finding a steal is hard.

I don't care is a domain is listed for $1 or $1M.
I am just making the observation; the quality of domains for sale on this forum has really dropped off.
Can anyone argue that?

quality, to me, means anyone can see its value, domainer or non-domainer.
here's a list I found:
they're not all great but most are solid.

With your insult on a big market like this. Are you now telling us that there are no scraps among expired domains? You have.proberbly registered on this platform since 2010 and you still don't know hiw this business operates.
I guessed you need to do more research before buying any names and let me tell you, there are still some good domain you can get at reg fee that make sense

Are expired auctions the only way to find good names for sale?

I have around 50 great .com names for sale of which half is priced at over 50,000 euro each. The problem is not in the names but in the fact that in an ocean of lousy names it is close to impossible to find the good ones. At www.afternic.com/adcatraz part of my domains can be found. Mainly the Dutch ones are great, but also a name like adcatraz.com (for advertising: adcatraz: keeps attention captured) is there. But who will find it?

On this website maybe 99% is garbage, probably more. But I also have seen real gems. And here also: who will find them? Example: coolrag.com. Great name, easy to develop on a fashion-shop. But if you look for a fashion-related name and do not use keywords like cool and rag to search, where will you find it?

My opinion: a name I believe to be crap can be your pearl. That is what mkes this business interesting. But there should be away more easy system to list and search for names. That way nothing is garbage.
