Hi domainers,

I heard somewhere in one video (I forget which video it was...).

A person who was explaining said we can study human physiology inorder to sell name. Not necessarily to study but this increase the odd numbers of success.

What is your opinion about that guy thought?

I mean psychology... Ignore my keyboard autocorrect mistake... 🤝

Physiology is probably the least relevant thing you need to know to sell domains.

You meant Psychology?

Thankyou, Yes Psychology. I think I should close the autocorrect option.

I think it may help in negotiations, but no psychology trick will ever sell a bad domain.

I think psychology plays a role for sure, including
  • how people react to certain names (e.g. a lot of developed psychology around things like colours, etc.)
  • marketing psychology related to various aspects of names
  • psychology as it comes into negotiation
  • etc.
Is it the most important thing? Not sure about that.

An education in domain investing has many facets, and aspects of marketing related to psychology is one aspect.

Thankyou sir,

How can I forget about negotiations. This is important psychological skill in domaining.

I will always remember what quoted.

I should have added I think the psychology of how humans respond to multiple choices is important. If someone has to decide between multiple places to buy, buy it now or make offer, or a lease-to-own, some argue there can be indecision and they will not act at all. On other hand, having various choices can sometimes increase sales as well.

There is also the psychology of how people react to different pricing e.g. $2500 vs $2499 vs $2488 vs $2555 is another psychological aspect.

As has recently been pointed out, when marketplaces show their trust score, having it only in stars is more effective than showing numbers, studies have shown.

I think there is also a complex psychology on how people react to descriptions with domain names.

Hi sir,

Agree with this.. From regestering name to sell. Every step has some psychology.

Name: How people will react by seeing name. Good names will make first impression better and this makes person not to forget the name he saw.

Pricing: People will buy $2499 instead of $2500 not because of $1 discount but the first price looks lesser.

And other factors like negotiation, marketing for our domain and like I can't mention all factors here. You know better than me I am just expressing my knowledge so I will remeber these things.

I think I done mistake by not buying names just because it do not have traffic, name like gpt quantumverse.com , it has all good quality except traffic.

Hi

think about how you were "psyched" into watching a video

and what psychology is still being used today, to get people to pay for the unnecessary.

read my new unpublished eBook: "The psych of selling the hype"

imo....

Psychology certainly helps with something like negotiation, but it is not some magical thing that will help sell a bad domain. It can get potential deals across the finish line though.

I have read several books on the subject, such as -

Influence: Science and Practice by Robert Cialdini

There are many other good ones as well.

Generally, this industry has a pretty bad reputation. That said however, referencing "Go Daddy" can add some credibility when selling domains to "end users".

I'm NO FAN of Go Daddy as everyone knows, but I'll use them just as they've used me:xf.wink:

It's obviously quite relevant at all levels of domain investments, It's no different to any sales scenario. Be it product identification, perception, placement, promotion, and closure etc.

All the skills in the world aren't going to sell a poor domain. But, if you have all the basic skills in place then you won't be making mistakes in the first place. It isn't Rocket science
