I see realtor being used in domains that are for sale or have sold. What is the simple answer as to why? Is there any legitimate legal use or is everyone simply gambling on not having a problem? And if so how big is the gamble?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
They are pretty aggressive in protecting their mark for fear of it becoming a generic term. I wouldn't deal in any names with that term.

If you are licensed to use it by NAR, but even then they have issues with certain domains that could give someone a competitive advantage.

If you are licensed by NAR, you could probably use your name + realtor, but they don't like the use of Geo + realtor.

As an investor, it is not a term worth messing with.

Realtor is trademarked and an agent pays through the nose for permission to use it. They are right. Not worth the risk unless you have specific permissions.
