Is having matching keywords in your domain any good for broad match searches?

Hi guys and girls

I was wondering does having certain keywords in your domain name help with broad match (not exact match) searches that contain that word. I know this question has been asked many times before but I am asking specifically in regards to the broad match.

So for example would having a domain like mikesreviews.com help with a search like “laptop model 4567 review”? I appreciate it probably won’t make that much difference and that on page seo and backlinks are much more important, but all those other ranking factors aside will it give it a “bit” of a boost? Or does it make no difference what so ever unless it’s an exact match, assuming that you think it helps with that. Is having matching keywords in your domain any good for broad match searches?

Many thanks

I dunno for sure but I don't think it can hurt you except if you overpay for a name based on that expectation.

Not to discourage you but in my opinion broad match covers so many different queries that if you try to play solely for a broad match market you may as well try to drain the water in the ocean by drinking it.

Also, auto-completion/auto-suggestion of search engine queries would seem to work against this approach but again I don't know for sure just trying to help.

Good luck and maybe we'll get more insight from more knowledgeable NP'ers

I suppose in this case you need to have your web site content optimized for that, not domain name at all. That is important.
