Is GWhois.org broken?

Is GWhois.org broken? It's reporting whois.iana.org can't be reached, or is it just because whois.iana.org can't be reached temporarily? Are there any other as reliable whois servers like GWhois.org?

I think it's not related to gwhois or another whois website. It should be related to whois servers of registrars which they likely limit number of whois queries per second from each IP.

If you use a linux desktop you don't need whois websites. Install whois package (code: "apt install whois") and make whois queries (code: "whois example.com") directly from your desktop.

For debian stable (bullseye): https://packages.debian.org/bullseye/whois

I've forgotten almost everything I knew about Linux after I bought an Intel NUC computer which only supported Windows at that time about 4 years ago. Windows is a bloat after Linux, I agree. But I did get addicted to the number of choices you have for available softwares though I'm still a windows beginner

A similar thing might exist for windows. You may search if you want.
Alternatively, if you have a linux vps, you can install and run whois program there.

Been more than a decade since I used Windows (XP) but I'm sure I had a commandline whois on it, probably through Cygwin. You can now download a version directly though, from:

Microsoft link so can be assumed to be safe.

Nope. It looks like it's working again. I get frustrated when something I use daily. and rely on, starts not working. Which happens more than I would like with GWhois.org. (Breath sigh of relief). That report is from 1.5yrs ago. Has this been intermittent all this time?

I think it was a temporary network glitch, somewhere in the path. Glad that it's working again.

The maintainer of the Gwhois.org website wrote some about the different approaches of querying whois data in 2014. Some solutions always start at whois.iana.org, while others maintain an extensive list with hardcoded whois servers for each TLD. See https://stackoverflow.com/a/24021066

OK. Seeing as it another report about being broken. It is only now only allowing 1 lookup at a time. With more than 1 domain. It was working fine this morning with multiple names but not now. Every space between names has been removed before lookup, which consequently means we can only produce results for 1 domain at a time.

Is this a change or just an temporary aberration which will get fixed. Hopefully soon. Are there any other whois which will do multiple domains at once.
