That sucksThey are only lower priced for registration. When you want to renew them it will cost more

Not all .tlds are the same: .coms should be companies, .infos should be informative, and .bizs should sell snake oil and magic beans.

Well some of us were into this .info thing already for a few years before this promotion started in 2004 and IMO by then there was not really much decent left to be had at reg fee...probably no different than it'd be now with yet newer extensions like .be/.es....all it takes is just a few hours or may be a few days for all the truly good names to be snapped up. It was quite different with .com since in the 90's it took a few years before people started recognizing the value of domains ...its a whole different ball game in this new millennium...people start months before a promising new TLD (like .EU, down the road .XXX) is even released with all the pre-regs and associated costs. This pre-release prep trend actually got started with .info, .biz and .us...and none of the premium names in these extensions costed (at least in my case)less than $100 (on an average) with pre-reg fees at multiple registrars and failed pre-regs... its all about what quality of names you're talking about since even in .com there are still infinite number of names available at reg fee...the real question is whether they're any good from aftermarket perspective?Rasbelin said:This price increase might in the longer run make the .info domains look as worthy as eg. .biz, because it will lack a sense of cheapness, which has until now been the issue with the free .info campaign and the now relatively cheap reg fee for them with most registrars.
The pricing also has to do with how much the respective registries charge registrars for the names in their TLD.ruan said:Why do you think that domains .info are lower priced than other domains as well as they aren't so popular...why this is happens any guesses?
BINGO ,I think you are spot-on.Binfus said:Its so ironic that so many people here talk down about .info and .biz most commonly using the market status of .com to bolster their argument but then at the same time getting all hyped up about the newest of newer extensions like .be, .es, and God knows what ! My bet is that hardly any of the .info nay-sayers would have any truly prime .info name in their portfolio let alone .com simply because they were late to the party, just likem many of us were late for the first one in the mid-late 90's.
