India's biggest media house, a $1 billion behemoth, Network18 media and investment has filed a UDRP against the owner of Network18.com

This was done after the company failed to reach a price consensus with the domain owner.
One of the company management guy assigned a company official Melvin Jose to buy the domain name but when he couldn't reach at a consensus on the price with the domain owner, they filed for UDRP.
Interested to see how it goes as I previously owned this domain.
    UDRP D2017-1718

Btw, the domain owner has never put an ad on this , owns a web development company and intended to use it to launch a networking solutions portal on it, which the complainant knew about.

On the surface sounds like a case of RDNH.

    A real shame.

Yes, this is what the owner of the domain should do. Slap them with a RDNH and put them in the hall of shame !!

Network18 media, has been in business since 2006 and got listed at the Indian stock-exchanges in the early 2007.They applied for their Indian trademarks in 2007 as well.
Since the domain has been registered only since 11/2008 and unless the domain-owner establishes legitimate use for the domain, it's most likely the UDRP will result in the favor of the complainant....Period!!!

It is surprising they did not start with UDRP. There is no potential of RDNH.

Not having had the pleasure, what is roughly the breakeven cost for a UDRP? Any country extra there?

I don't see the complainant winning this case
