Caution, major rant below!

Sedo has not impressed me from day one. Their traffic and revenue for parked domains is a joke, their customer service just sucks like I've never seen anything suck before, they never ever not once have replied to any of my emails, they hold money on sold domains forever probably to collect the interest, and to top it off, I sent a personal email after calling and talking to a rep about submitting a domain into auction with no bids which new domains are being posted everyday including many dot mobi's. The newest dot mobi is isla.mobi

Here is their reply....

Hello,

Thank you for your email. I am happy that you are interested in submitting your domain to Sed o's auction. At the current time, our brokers are only pushing domains to auction that are one word .COM domains with high amounts of traffic attached to them :? Although you have a good domain, we will not be able to push your domain to auction at this time.

This is called a lie sedo, dance-latin.com a one word dot com with high traffic? Right................. :td:

The email went on to brag about their parking service and $39 featured listing service. What a joke these people are.

I am in the middle of developing my good domains into mini sites with google adsense anyway and elliminating the middle man completely. If someone is interested in aquiring any of my domains it will be advertised in the whois information and also on the mini site along with other listings from companys who give half a s#@% about their customers. Who the hell needs sedo? I dont!

That all said, once I get my money for my two recent sales I am personally never dealing with this half a$$ company again. Now, off to change some name servers.

Feel much better now, sorry and thanks!

HasRob........

Is there a way to cancel a sedo account?

Honestly, it doesnt seem like any company out there has "It" down. From GoDaddy's TDNAM to Sedo, to Afternic - With the Domain Aftermarket changing and expanding so rapidly, I dont think many companies are capable of really satisfying requirements. I wish I had the financial backing to start a COMPLETE company - one that deals with drops, auctions, live registrations, solid marketplace, fast escrow... It seems you can find these elements all over, but no company really has them all down pact. I suppose the closest to this would be Moniker. but I also see a hundred other features not being utilized.

I hope someone comes along soon.... or I may have to see if I can do this.

Justin

Delete your domains and change the name servers. I just did both and moving all my domains to my reseller account at regastar.com from godaddy. That way, whatever names I dont develop into mini sites I'm guaranteed 80% of the parked revenue anyway.

Friendly plug for 1plus.net as thats where my mini sites will be created. Already have 5 there now and getting 100% of the revenue with google adsense. Will definitley be putting some more on 1plus now.

Exactly why I'm taking over my own revenue and sales. No more .001 clicks and 10% commisions. Recently i've seen some really bad and dishonest business practices from a couple of the co's you mentioned. I refuse to deal with them anymore.

HasRob i can understand you dire strait, you're not the only one who has experienced such a plight. Once i felt like throwing everything including my kitchen sink at them.

After been in this industry for some time now,i discovered Sedo has one of the overall best customer service(i know you'll despise for saying this) in the industry. Customer service includes quality of the platform, customer support and business deal time.

Let know put it know clearly for you why said so:

1.They know how to compensate customers
2.They have one of the best parking program (SedoPro i mean)
3.They have friendliest customer service assistants.(if you know to whom you're talking to)

I know you've made up your mind to keep your distance from Sedo,i'm not going to change your stance but just going to give you some tips to have response from them.

If you're on SedoPro try to conatact your parking manager, otherwise try to msg Mara on Namepros, she might be able to sort things out for you before leave for good.this might quicken up your departure intracacies(your pending sales).

Afterall one thing i realise in this world is, who you know not not what you know. you need to know the right people.

i also like to concur DomainSpade on this issue, big companies grow bigger and they tend to lack their initial efficiencies. Even Microsoft been loated by some people.

Sedo is not perfect i know that, they can be sick sometimes but what i like in them is their attitude willing to CHANGE.

hope this might help

Thanks for the reply. However you were right, you wont change my stance. One year with sedo is enough for me. As you can see, I've had it. As for your comment on being willing to change, I've yet to see that. Only an increase in negative sedo threads.

Also, yes connections are nice but thats certainly one I do not need and can survive without. Theres only a couple things you really need in this business, money and knowhow.

HasRob......

ps- My guess is they read this thread as there were 3 or 4 more non one word dot coms on the bottom of the auction list just an hour ago and now there gone. Bluff call maybe? WAJ

To be honest i didn't have any problem with Sedo so far
80% of the times their responses were fast
The funny thing is that sometimes i get more than one repliy from 2-4 persons at sedo for the same question/issue i sent them

The only "problem" i had was about 4 fake offers for equal domains but this is not an issue you can find only at sedo

Doesn't Google share 78.5% of Adsense Revenue with the publishers?

My recent Sedo transaction was overshadowed by slow responses, incompetence and a level of BS customer service that has yet to be beat.

The only, and i truly mean ONLY reason why the domain was transfered is based on 12 emails i had to send, followed by about 4 phone calls. Mara is by far the biggest asset that SEDO ever had, the rest of their staff are pretty much worthless. It's just another testament of how badly online companies are run.

Justin, i agree, all elements are in existence, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to put them together, however, as long as there is no one out there that actually pulls it off, the ones that are screwing with us now, are going to continue and not feel much pain in the process.

I think i'm going to throw my entire portfolio on the market, keep 3 gems, and take the money to buy me an acre of land. At least i can piss in my own corner then. (pardon the french)

I thought I was done with sedo, but then one day I got an offer from a domain I listed there. I had to deduct $50 for not parking at sedo, but a sale is a sale.

So far I've had good results with Sedo. I've emailed 2 different reps just today with questions and both responded soon after.

Sedo basically seems to have 2 kinds of service levels to me:
1) Buyeer/Seller service - OK
2) Any other like support/affiliates, etc.. is TERRIBLE

E.g
I arranged several CONFIRMED sedo sales via my affiliate ID, but ...... in my affiliate stats there show up ZERO - NADA

And.....no reply at all to my emails.

They owe me quite a bunch of money.
Stats systems seem not very reliable.
"bonafide" ?

I like most things about sedo but they really do need to go back to basics and realise that good fast communication is critical.

A reply within a few hrs is fantastic - less than 12hrs is great - less than 48hrs is expected - 48hrs + or never is just an insult IMO (weekends aside).

I suspect they must be continually understaffed which is usually a management screw up often due to greed.

I say.......Mara for President  :lala:

ps - If you're watching Sedo I luv some of the new features

I am in the process of moving the 300+ domains I had parked with SedoPro to Parked.com for the very same reasons. Matt Villa pretty much KILLED Sedo's reputation for me. No communication skills, not even a remote desire to HAVE any communication skills.

Just to add some contrast, while adding my domains to Parked.com, I had a couple of domains fall into the "contravercial" column on my account, stating that due to their status, Parked was unable to monitize them.

I email my rep and got a reply within 15 minutes!!! I nearly passed out. With Sedo, it's unlikely you will get a response within 15 MONTHS!!!

We'll see how things go at Parked.com I'm really looking forward to a simply successful parking relationship. No buts about it.

GoPC!

I personally dont have any problems with Sedo(pro)
I have a great account manager and communication is pretty good.
The EPC could be a bit better but, I am sure we will fix that by using better keywords

I'm fair and honest and must give credit where it's due. Sold cellularpoker.mobi last week and received payment today via paypal. So a thanks to Gasper for that speedy transfer.

I guess it's the $5,000 and up names they hold payment for longer periods of time. Yeah, better interest prob :o

Maybe this is just a dream and not a reality. Each company has their strengths and the best strategy is probably to work with multiple companies based on their strengths. The industry is evolving to quickly at the moment.

Just saw this in my control pannel

Whatโ€™s new at Sedo?

Weโ€™d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding in December when operations at the Sedo Boston office were disrupted due to a fire in the basement of our office building. We are happy to report that our office building has been cleared for occupancy and we have returned to the building.

We look forward to meeting some of you at the upcoming industry events including DomainFest and T.R.A.F.F.I.C West.

Lets hope things get back on track fast eh ! :)
