You should have listened to your wife, John. :xf.laugh:

But yes, no-one could have predicted the course of things. Just like stocks, you can buy domains back you know, at mostly higher prices. Appreciation of quality domains is a matter of time.

Ouch. If we could see the future, we'd all be millionaires. Or go back in time, that would be a good one. At least you're not bitter.

yes.

I propose us domainers and our wives create fund.. supervised by alcy where we all chip in to buy time machine.

one person time machine is around 1trillion dolla

so alcy he go and bring back some 1cent bitcoin and hotel.com

I remember someone telling me recently that they sold one-word dictionary .ai domains a few years ago, and now they regret it.

It's the same no matter what the asset.... crypto, stocks, domains, land, etc...

The lesson is the same: Work hard, save, invest and HODL.

But how many have the discipline to hold assets even when the price is high?

Oh well....dust off, move on, and be stronger

Regarding the pizza guy, many business owners sold their Bitcoin at the beginning of 2020, when its value dropped, and now itโ€™s worth 10โ€“12 times more.

Similarly, many people sold great .ai domains years ago, before the boom, and now regret it.

If I held on to all the stock I had in the 90's and invested 5% of what I invested in domains 25 years ago, I would be a billionaire.

I let go of good names too.

My point is, don't be upset, we can only live forward.

Well, John, as an old Russian saying goes: ''if a grandma had a dick, she'd be a grandpa...''

Looking at those domains, I can say you did good to sell them, cause if you would have kept them, you would be a beggar not millionaire.:glasses:

It seems you have no idea how much is the value of 3L .com

People tend to regret more the things they didn't, that the things they did and didn't work.

I'm not convinced they would make you a millionaire, but if you kept them you would not regret it that much.

I offer free boarding for 3 letter .coms should the situation arise again. (y)

Profit is profit. Whatever and whenever you sell, it can always turn out in 20 years that you sold "too low". At the same time, as domains are subscription-based, you can't take them to your grave and they aren't a great inheritance material, either. No point in beating yourself over it.

My apology, it seems i missed those COM's at the end! Yes big companies now would pay allot for those, if they are in same vagon as IBM, MSN etc.

We've all got stories like that, i started 10 years ago (just got my 10 year badge a few days ago).

It was the potential of VR that got me investing in domains, i thought it was the next big thing after smartphones, i still think immersive tech will be, but i never foresaw Ai, on reflection that was the thing to invest in back in 2015 and the amount i spent, if i went that route that could have made me well into 7 figures in domain sales.

Still investing in domains have bought me an house outright and that is all thanks to VR really (not directly), but if it wasn't for VR i wouldn't have invested in domains and with that i wouldn't have gone into other areas where i have done well.
