question I missed out on a pre-release domain auction (no one bid). How and when can I get that domain now?

I have never used services such as Dropcatch, so I want to know if a domain that was on a pre-release auction where no one bid for it is still obtainable for me. If so, how can I get it? I guess the next phase for that domain is the pending delete phase. But in that phase, do I still have to use Dropcatch to get it? The price would jump from $10 to $59, right? If no one would backordered it, would it get deleted, "freed", so I could simply go to my registrar, type it, and own it for a base price?

As you can see, I'm trying to learn about the differences (and advantages) between the pre-release auctions, the backorders, the pending deletes, etc.

Thank you in advance for any insights or advice you can offer. I'd really appreciate it if anyone with experience in this area could share their thoughts or suggestions on the best approach here. Looking forward to your help!

Yes you are right at some how. But may be there are some people like you watching the domain you are watching do get deleted and released.

And they are ready to acquire the domain like you through the registrar.

So if that case, you need to hurry to registrar the domain name otherwise, other people may have acquire the name before you if you don't go faster.

I recommend you to use a dropcatch script to registrar the name instantly through registrar API service. So you get faster that people who using hand registering the name by typing the name -> go to cart -> make payment

I am shareing you a script that you can run from your pc or can install on VPS hosting.

When a domain goes through a pre-release auction and no one bids on it, it typically moves to the next phase, which is the pending delete stage. In this phase, the domain is in the process of being deleted by the previous owner, and it’s possible to register it once it becomes available again.

If no one places a backorder or bids through services like Dropcatch, the domain will indeed be deleted, and then it will become available for general registration. However, Dropcatch or similar backorder services help by monitoring these domains and trying to "catch" them as soon as they become available, especially if the domain is valuable or in high demand.

To obtain the domain directly for a low cost (like $10), you would have to wait for the domain to be fully deleted and freed up. At that point, you can try to register it with any domain registrar. Keep in mind, services like Dropcatch may have a higher cost (around $59), but they increase your chances of successfully registering the domain immediately after it becomes available.

In short, if no one backordered it, you can try to register it as soon as it’s freed up during the pending delete phase, and the price would typically be the regular registration fee at your registrar, not the auction price.

If no one places a backorder, then it will drop. In that case you can register the domain when it becomes available. You can watch the domain on Dropcatch. Worst case scenario, one person places the backorder and win the domain. If two people place a backorder, then it goes to auction.

If it is a good domain, then you might as well place the backorder, and not risk someone getting it.
