I Have Traffic To Parked Domains But Not Many Click-throughs.

I recently started parking my domain names and see that some of them are receiving a lot of traffic (for ME!) but they aren't getting click-throughs. Does this count as traffic in valuing the domain or only if people are clicking through? If a domain is receiving over 100+ clicks per day is it any good if no one is clicking through?

Thanks,
L

IMHO 100 uniques per day is fairly decent for a beginner. (like me) Thats just under what my best domain does. Zero clicks is bad, but it could mean several things.

It could be that you aren't really getting 100 uniques per day. I've seen names that get visited many times by spiders, bots ect and have few real human visitors. This is less likely the case if you are using parking service to get your stats. They will usuall not show "visits" from bots. personally I log my own visitors and then lookup the reverse dns to see which ones are real visitors and where they are from.

It could be that the traffic you are getting isn't really coming from where you expect. The classic example of this is the utube pipe company and the youtube video site. Search for an article on that one, its an interesting read. If you are showing pvc pipe ads to people looking for movie downloads you aren't going to get good clickthrough.

The traffic could be coming from removed websites. If it was your website to begin with, put it back! The same 100 visits per day is worth ten times as much on a well developed site as it is on a parked site. Just figure out how to integrate ads into your site.

If the traffic is coming from expired/dropped domains, your best bet is to build a website quickly. With expired domains you will find that people visit, discover the site they were looking for is gone, and leave. Occassionally you can capture them with a well placed ad. Regardless, they won't come back a second time. You can recapture your domain investment by trying to advertise and optimize, or you can convert them to regular visitors of your new site and do much more.

I'm still a beginner at this myself, but you're welcome to pm me the names and keywords you are using. I'll be happy to look them over and make some suggestions.

From what I've seen dev'ing a domain is the only way to retain and add people + clicks. Buying a domain with traffic and parking it = a dead domain...if you don't dev it.

Get a hosting account with unlimited domains (hostgator.com) and dev your sites or start a whypark account.
