hi..i'm sure these questions have all been asked before but being a newb and thinking about making millions in the parking arena i need to know what to look for and what makes a domain great for earning.

(1) How important is link popularity for a domain.
(2) Does it matter if it is a dot com or dot info etc?
(3) PR important?
(4) If looking at a domain with fake PR and showing links are those links from the website the domain has been forwarded to or from the domain i'm looking at?
(5) Website pages on archive web? Age of domain important?
(6) I've noticed that some domains have no traffic but heaps of links and valid PR, while some domains have zero links and zero PR but have good traffic. How does that figure?
(7) Is the actual name of the domain more important than incoming links, PR etc? i.e would i earn more from a dictionary or meaningful name with no links/PR than with x--c1-9.name with heaps of links and PR5 (imaginary)?

thanks folks..i'm sure i will think of some more as i go along.

I'm still fairly new in the game myself. I think I can help weed out some of the things on your list that you don't want to look for. PR, backlinks, and possibly domain age. The last one is negotiable as it depends on what you are looking to use it as an indicator for. Also my response is assuming you are looking to make your millions from parking.

The basic idea behind parking a domain as a money earning source is that you hold on to the domain and get paid for owning it. Think of it like rental property. If your rental property is having a landfill and an airport built next to it over time nobody is going to want to live there. If a shopping mall, and an elemetary school are bieng built, everyone will. The web is bieng developed all around you. If you buy great locations then in future those will be developed all around and prime to sell off at huge profits.

If you are buying names based on PR and backlinks you aren't looking at the value of the property, but rather the value of the tennants who are currently living there. You could be putting yourself in a situation where you will have to do tons of work just to keep them while the guy who bought the attractive realestate sits back and draws in your best tenants.

As for domain age, it is supposedly useful to help you rank with seo. For parking thats useless. It also is an indicator of how valuable the name is though. If someone didn't bother to reg a name until last week chances are its not great enough that everyone wants it. If someone bought it up 10 years ago the odds swing the other way. Still I try not to use domain age as an indicator because for a great name you should be able to tell its value without referencing domain age.
