Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on called SwoopDomains. It's a marketplace for buying and selling domains quickly and easily.

Just like every founder and entrepreneur, I have a bunch of unused domains sitting around that have been bought then forgotten about. I wanted to sell them, but when I looked into existing marketplaces, I ran into a bunch of issues:

  1. Many charge listing fees just to put your domain up for sale
  2. Auctions often drag on for weeks or even months
  3. The interfaces felt clunky and outdated
  4. You have to sell on your registrars marketplace
I figured there had to be a better way, so I created SwoopDomains.

How it works

  • No listing fees - it's completely free to list your domains
  • Quick 72-hour auctions - every auction starts at $1 and lasts just 3 days, driving up bidding activity
  • Modern, user-friendly interface
  • Instant payouts once a sale is completed - straight to your PayPal or bank account
Whether you're looking to offload some unused domains or pick up some new ones at a good price, I'd love for you to check it out and let me know what you think. You can find it at swoopdomains dot com

I'm happy to answer any questions or hear your feedback. Thanks for checking it out!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The real issue is, the members have more to say than the founder.
Hi

ha, was thinking the same thing.
:)

maybe they'll have more to say later

imo...

Good luck!

10% sale cut is ideal compared to similar sites :)

It looks nice, clean and simple. Hopefully it continues to grow as an alternative auction platform. Maybe one day you can upgrade to Swoop . com :xf.smile:

better not or molly gonna get even more hits when she google that

My assumption was it would be a .com and so went straight to the address bar and entered the name to go straight to the website where as @Molly s default setting was to Google it which I find fascinating. I don't know how old Molly is etc but there is something to unpack here.

Are peoples (maybe younger etc) default methods starting to be to search something instead of assume or at least try a direct route? What effect does that potentially play in the domain game looking to the future? Is SEO the biggest factor over TLD?

I find that small interaction here very interesting.

I hate to be anticlimactic, but it’s primarily a matter of speed for me. On this flat screen device, it’s easier (fewer keystrokes?) to highlight a word and Google it, than it is to copy a word, paste it, then type .com at the end, and then hit enter.

My way is faster, assuming the website has existed long enough to show up near the top of the first page. When it’s something I’m really interested in, I’ll view more pages. Clearly I wasn’t that interested here, lol.

Or perhaps offer a choice. Many domainers, especially dabblers and newbies, don’t or won’t or can’t sign up with escrow.com. You might offer to act as fast, informal escrow-like service for small sales.

Then give the option to use escrow.com for any substantial sales?

Just more thoughts 😊
Yes, that is what has been implemented now. For sales under $750 USD, the transaction is managed on-platform. For larger sales above $750 USD, Escrow.com is used and integrated into the transaction.

Have you published your company details already on the website?

Why didn't you choose @swoopdomains for your username?
Why didn't you put the .com after the name in the initial post?
It's not Twitter anymore, it's X. At the bottom of your site's main page.

Easy little details like this should be sorted out way before an introduction to a new project, imagine when the hard stuff comes around the corner. And it always come here at NP so be ready, we smell rugs before they are woven. Being said take all input to help grow your new venture.

I know this stuff takes time, good luck with your venture.

Looks pretty decent mjh. As a founder of more than 50 websites that I've sold over the years, this site looks pretty decent for a design starting point but as others have pointed out it has its issues, including the escrow one that is huge! However, IN my insatiable need to see good websites developed and be successful I will point out that this has been tried by many founders including myself that have bombed with it. A $1 starting point is an instant TRAFFIC killer! Change that and change fast. It already looks like your making inroads to do that with $50 start points and so on some names on the site currently for sale. Building traffic through links, organic seo and social network sites is more than a full time occupation for any founder. Have you thought about adding partners to grow the site to a level of possible success? Just food for thought!

Member seems to be setting up similar websites at the moment with all sorts of promises. It looks a bit too good to me. Please be warned.

Now, googling "Swoop Domains" brings up your site as the first two listings, this thread is number three, and brandpa moved down to fourth place!

Nice initiative. But, for my opinion, such places must be carefully developed(I mean both SEO, Programming, and Design development), to be respected. If such place appears, one day, it becomes like true gift to niche community(domain community in this case).

Hey MJ why haven't you updated the rules in your post here yet? This could be understood as a little funny move if you don't soon.

The payout is not instant.

Sold domain for $36 and over 24 hours still not paid. The buyer even confirmed they got the domain already

Why would anyone use this site over other ones if you don’t hold word on instant payment?

All the very best . Will keep watching the progress.
Still not paid.

The site lies.

He emailed and says “
Your payout can take up to a week to process after it has been
requested, so we will keep you updated.”

And the website says:

Get Paid Instantly

“Once you sell a domain, you can get paid instantly straight to your bank account or PayPal - no more long payout periods or expensive services.”

Why do you claim instant payout when it isn’t?

due to low traffic u have more chance to list free on dyna sav etc..
sav is 5p fee only... dyna 10 I think

I made like 600 on some 300 handeegs i was gonna drop on sav... iver say last 6 months... I only got 200 names on dyna and didnt try there.. bummer on sav is they need 60 day min before exp to list.
dyna is 15 days only. but that's 2 clicks and your listed. no transfer or other stuff.

this is very interesting. I have names I just let drop. Perhaps getting a few bucks off them at Sav is worthwhile. I can point NS to Sav for the auction? And they must be <60 days to expiry?

No, they are not registered at Sav. Am I able to point NS to Sav and sell them there?

all my auctions were sav names.
u asked good question as I have 20percent names on dyna..80 on sav... and wanted to list dyna on sav..
but then it said on sav to.transfer to.sav..except it.doesnt make it clear if.seller transfers before listing or buyer pays transfer after win
... obviously if former then forget it.. if latter.then ok.
