Hello everyone,

I know three letter English word .com domain will be of great value.

But what about a .XYZ one?

Thank you!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
OK, it's the last three characters of my username (my first name, but it is also an English word if in lowercase)...
The reason why I hesitated to say the word is because I am not sure if I am like I will use this domain for myself, but if a good price comes I will consider selling it.
Thank you!

I would say, on average, low-mid $x,xxx. Low $xx,xxx to the right buyer...

At the same time, there doesn't seem to be a floor for LLL.xyz prices. Many are selling for low $xxx - even good ones like PIN, USA, CAR, and WFH. So, I suppose it all depends on your willingness to hold out and your ability to attract and negotiate with the right buyer.

I don't like the name as a word, because in English it just means one of these: ( https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/817RjT77c0L._AC_SL1500_.jpg ); which is not very inspiring as a brand. But, I do like the name as an abbreviation. It's a good combination of letters. It can stand for Podcast Advertising Network, Public/Private Access Network, Public Affairs Network, etc.

.xyz seems to be a hit with crypto brands. So, if you can identify a buyer in that niche, or if you get lucky and a crypto token or network ends up using your name, I think that's where you might find your most lucrative buyer.

Cheers! :)

I would not recommend buying into hype FAB. I don't see the value being develop.

I think most likely "hype and burn" intend to rush newbies into joining, and buying up inventory and then... crash.

Without valuable development, newbies should not join in. More likely a scheme and those sales are probably numbers throwing out to get the excitement.

It should crash within months just like most other extensions without uses.

You just nailed it. Please guys dont compete to catch the .xyz names. I will try to grab as many as i can.

Like all things, depends on what it is

SEX, BET, YOU, TAX, VAN, CAR, CAT, DOG, APP, GYM, TOM ...biddable, lovely

DZX, RIW, COH, ZOQ, QZG, WWZ, PGN, ACM, LLR, AAY, TVP ...not so lovely

You can't really get away with random letters like in a 3 letter "dot com" ...the word must be attractive. If not, you may be waiting a while

I didn't sell a 3L .xyz till now. IMHO, It could sell in between 9888 - 29888, if its not a registry premium domain. Thanks

Give me the plurals. vans.com, cars.com, cats.com, dogs.com, gyms.com, apps.com better than singular imo. More uses. More end users. More valuable? Not sure. vans.com better than van.com for me. I could be wrong. You probably wouldn't go to van.com to buy a van (where you'll be looking at different vanS to buy) but you might go to vans.com.

Most of these domains will fall under registry premium where registration, renew and transfer all will cost you dearly ranging from $$$ to $$$$$. One of the reasons why they all are still available in the market. Imagine you purchase one of the above domains say for US$5K and then every year you have to pay same amount as the renewal fee.

The beauty of @DNGear domains portfolio is most of her domains even premium one have a normal $10 per annual renewal fee making it a very attractive proposition for the end-users. It really needs lots of effort and patience to find quality one word or short and affordable XYZ domains.

I'd take "van" over "vans" ...like taking "taxi" or "taxis" (generally). Then again, depends on use

If I was a car dealer, I'd take "prestige cars dot com" over "prestige car dot com", as the plural indicates I have more than one car to offer

Hello hxp,

Thank you for this excellent explanation. I am not a domain investor actually, but it makes sense to me. And I am more clear about the value of the domain. I will think more about it.

Thank you very much!

Most recent sales in xx,xxx are hyped up . Still the long term is yet to be determine .

Many of the sold .xyz domains are developed into DeFi, crypto and blockchain related websites, which shows the real demand from end users. We don't know if the demand is long-term, but the current trend shows that the demand is increasing (more sales with higher prices in 2021 than 2020) and is proportional to the popularity of the DeFi, crypto and blockchain industry.

I have seen disputed results as why i prefer my source.

The so-called "disputed results" are verified as valid sales by Namebio and DNJournal. Some of the sold domains have been developed as well.

https://www.namepros.com/threads/guild-xyz-buyer-revealed.1252727/
https://www.namepros.com/threads/flip-xyz-buyer-revealed.1252331/

It is your freedom to think they are invalid sales and exclude them in your own analysis for fun, but it is very irresponsible to ignore the objective facts to mislead others in a public discussion forum.

I agree but option of acronym with same 3 and 4 letters is a lot more options.

The math shows is strong still but resale has been and gone http://dnpric.es/?q=.xyz down to xxx 2021.

I just saw your link ..some of the domains are dropped . Some are selling way below what it was sold in 2015-2016 . Looks like the math is "NOT" strong after all. More likely a hype and is dying!

Namebio has a more complete list of .xyz sales.

I am looking at past .mobi sales, like ringtones which is still for sale, music.mobi which was sold at 600,000 USD is now dead. Same as casino mobi ...

Same for poker dot mobi ...

The mobi sales were higher than those of .xyz ...and now its dead. Basically the early bird hyped it up, sold for a huge profit and then they dump it or the extension died. In the case .xyz ..its not even up to the level of the dot mobi yet ...and still the numbers look great but the future look to be the same.

There is a big difference that the sold .mobi were sales between domainers and were never developed into websites, while the sold .xyz are sales between domainers and end users and are developed into websites.

Please do not ignore the domain usage side.

I literally have one .xyz domain and it is a LLL - JAG

Got an offer late last year of $250 and nothing since.....I'm going to keep it though - standard renewal, has a nice ring to it and looks to fit into a few different verticals....

Thanks for your replies! What if the word is a top 2% most often used word?

Thanks

xyz was 5th ranked gltd in 2019 and had 3 million registrations it may have dropped to half that no longer 99c or what ever the lure was but lots of players.

Right now it looks like its hyped up. You can invest, but its not at a mature stage yet to determine if it will hold.

If you are right you make big, if wrong, you lose big. :)
