The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
+ the domain may be used as personal email address... The domain registrant is NOT obliged to run any website at all.
And this is 100% "good faith". Except spamming.

Just Contact Form on the domain is also 100% "good faith".

Redirect to articles like https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/acer - 100% "good faith" as well.

This year some big French company (their hired lawyers) have tried to attack me regarding my .life domain...
Without any success.

I also sold a few such domains even on Sedo (low $X,XXX BINs).

So don't teach me.

.com.co is the TLD for Colombia and if you visit Sipi.sic.gov.co you can find that Acer has a number of trademarks in Colombia. If you visit their Latin America page they refer to vigorously defending their trademark to the extent of pursuing criminal prosecution..

Putting up content of computer products including a competitor (Toshiba) on such a site is playing with fire. Imo

Here I agree absolutely.
100% "bad faith".

p.s. Most good names are trademarked... with more or less coverage...
Many are even offered as "Premiums" by various registries...
This thread may be endless if no understanding that the domain itself (record in the corresponding registry) and its usage - are 2 different things.

It is true.

I can't believe this domain is still resolving. Some people are really begging to be UDRPed (or worse).

Thanks for the input and 2 cents. Really helpful.

Just like to repeat the posted disclaimer from the other poster here, this matters are best handled by a lawyer. In reality though not everyone is willing to pay a lawyer for such matters or even have a budget to consult one. Opinions from other domainers are very very welcome as well to help people like us with less knowledge with trademark issues.

Anyway did a slightly more in depth reading on this matter as own several trademarked domains as well. Turned out one of them have tons of trademark from different companies with different services and products. So I can conclude its totally safe to own ACER if you are planning on using it on other services not related to computers. CONSIDERING THAT ACER ONLY APPLIED
FOR TRADEMARK TO COMPUTER PRODUCTS, ACER PLUMBING is totally safe.

The OP can tell what he wants to a UDRP panel. It doesn't matter since the domain is now tainted with evidence of good faith.
The benefit of the doubt (or ignorance) cannot be granted now.

He must NOT offer it.
Such domains can be sold in passive mode only... Strict inbound - in other words.
Contact Form without any content should be safe and enough 100%.

If the mentioned Taiwan manufacturer - they already own .CO
So their inquiry for .com.co is just question of time.

That makes sense.

This thread is not about plumbing...
And just the domain registration is not an issue... only activity/content matters to dispute the certain domain.

Then stopping creating posts suggesting he can set up a plumbing company. Duh.

@canvasboutiuque The plumbing company(or any other product/service not related to computer) is a good and legal way to use the word acer in your domain or branding. CONSIDERING that their trademark is only applicable to computers. The owner of .co version though is clearly asking for trouble the way the domain is setup selling or advertising computers.

P.S. Please note above is a comment from a domain holder and NOT a legal expert.

Brilliant. So you're promoting "Trademark Confusion"?

Non legal experts should do more reading and cease on suggesting "legal way"s to register trademarked keywords/phrases or simply leave any legal advice to....the experts. It really isn't as simple as thinking that just because you're selling goods/services in a different category that you're okay. It's very easy to prove that it was registered in bad faith (history already established) after an existing identical mark and that the owner has no bona fide interest or business.

In any event, the discussion doesn't matter because .com.co? "Acer" (and we all know what is meant by using the word "acer" hence the confusion) will have zero interest in it. It's, in simple terms and with respect...crap. If they did have interest in it, they would issue a cease and desist, ask for transfer or file a dispute. The domain owner would poop his pants if "Acer" started throwing money at the dispute that it would go uncontested.

Here's an amusing case : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_vs._MikeRoweSoft filed on the basis of phonetic resemblance.

The only opinion that really matters is that of Acer, and as they've shown zero interest to date reaffirms the belief that the domain name is worthless. What we should collectively do is not suggest or promote *cough* "legal ways" for third parties to register trademarks.

Yes, there is a huge difference between (a) ensuring that one's use of a domain name doesn't inadvertently run into problems with a trademark of which one has never heard, and (b) the sorts of transparent schemes which, to anyone with half a brain, are as effective as a child 'hiding' by covering their face with their hands.
