I found it interesting why Microsoft chose .NET domain?

Getting a domain name from a big company without the .com and with a dash allows for lower cost to acquire it number one. Second, they don't have to worry about too many people trying to make a big story out of it. Plus, Microsoft last time I checked have tons of experiments and test projects going on. And if they needed to get a .com without the dash, their budget surely allows it.
