Let say the Internet will be around 20 years from now, How much domain names from the 90s will be worth? regardless the domain name, i think it will be worth a lot of money exactly like old collectors items.
What do you think about this issue? We should buy domain names from the 90s, regardless the keywords?

Let me know what do you think about this issue?

Thank you

Who knows what will happen in the next 10 or 20 years regarding domains, probably far more changes than there was in the last 10 !!

If it was crap in 1990, it is still crap today and always will be.
.

I'm sure there are quiet a few exceptions to that rule, Spyware.com being one of them that springs to mind.
Bought for about $9 at a time (2000 ish) when it did'nt really mean anything to anyone ....went on to make millions :bingo:

...you must have had quiet a few major successes of your own Seabass starting out way back when :)

Arbel ...

While we can learn from the past, the focus should be on the future.

The question you are asking is ... Which old domains will be valuable in the future ?

Its a good question ... one answer lost in translation is

great = growth and growth = great :)

This is like asking "What 90's recording artists' merchandise will increase in value in 10-20 years?" And the answer to that question is, depends who dies.

So is the answer to your question - depends in which direction the world goes.

So no one here will be able to adequately answer your question, unless they're a prophet.

I am no prophet however, Yoda (through the Force) told me that Business.com will be worth half a billion...

I doubt the age will play that much of a role if the domain is weak. In 20 years search engines will probably be much better at providing results based on how well the pages address the questions of the users, so domain age should be less relevant.

Take domain age for search engine purposes out of the equation and only good domains registered in the 90's will be worth more in two decades.

If you buy the domain VHSTapes.com, it might've been registered in the 90's, but it's a dead technology already. It doesn't have too much room to grow in 20 years since people don't use it anymore now.

Things aren't worth money just because they're "old" nor is there much of a corollary between age and value. They have to be desirable, too.

The whole "age = value" thing is an incredibly unsophisticated position to take, yet a surprising number of people seem to believe it and upon finding an old newspaper in the attic, sincerely believe that they're hit it big and the buyers will be beating down their door.

A 2000 year old Roman Coin can be worth profoundly less than an 80 year old penny.

You might not even be living in 20 years...

Anyway, I think it's too hard to judge. The quality of the domain is much more important and the 90's had a lot of them.
