How long a registrar block the transfer of a domain

hi guys,
i have just sold a domain to one guy. now the registrar is not allowing me to transfer the domain because i bought the domain with my friend's credit card. they said they will not let me transfer domain for 180 days from registration. i was juts wondering, can they really stop me for 180 days? isn't there any maximum number of days set by ICANN for the registrar to be able to hold transfer of a domain?

n.b.: of course they gave me a way out of this, but that is too troublesome right now.

It mostly depends on the registrar's agreement. Is this a .com or some other
extension?

Check the registrar agreement. Normally the transfer is blocked for 60 days from registration (com, net, org, info).

.IN domains - the usual lock in for registrar to registrar transfer is 60 days from date of purchase - pretty much like .com / .net / etc

Even then most registrars allow an internal push between two accounts after 5 days of registration.

ResellerClub / Directi / MediaWiz.Biz Resellers are in any case, where exactly did you reg this?

there was some problem with the buyer's status. so i couldn't push the domain to his account.

Well businessx.in is a .in registrar (Business Solutions - Business.info), though they seem to be using the logic boxes interface. And I think they're connected or even the same company as mitsu.in

Do a search on NP itself for more info about these companies.

Ask the buyer to open a new account with them and push the domains. If the CID and User Email are correct don't see why a push should not be possible.
