Zero investment including labor?

I'd say there's no way. If you put in the effort, you can manage to get free domains here and there and then start building up with that technique.

Here is an idea,

- Go to NamePros NP$ Incentives and start earning NP$

- While you doing that, learn more about domaining, development, marketing techniques, etc..

- Once you have enough NP$ & enough knowledge to develop mini-site, buy a host & domain name or buy existing website from Namepros Established Sites For Sale

- Develop your new website until it starts generating revenue then re-do it all over or sell your website and start new better one.

- You can also find more ways to increase your income which will help you keep going in domaining & developing. EX: Work At Home tasks, Freelancing, Webmaster services, etc..

The most important part you should always focus on, that you improve & increase your knowledge about Domaining, Developing, Marketing including their subcategories.

Good Luck :tu:

Absolute zero investment - impossible.

You need Something to get the ball rolling, then from their - you need to make all the right moves to grow what you have.

1. get a partner with money
2. you do most of the work
3. split profits
4. invest yourself

remember that

time = money

you will need to either put in time or money as an investment

This could really work.

I believe that many here could build a subscription site generating $4K per month with zero investment in 20 weeks time. It would be VERY tough and very time intensive but it could be done. IMHO

You can't. I've invested six figures and aren't even close to what I'd call success. Its a long hard road unless you just happen to get lucky, which while may be boasted all over the boards its really a very very small minority. Many many more people fail at this business than are successful just like any other business.

I consider success the ability to live comfortably from domains alone. I hold onto my best domains and don't typically sell to resellers.

And i do ;)! If you never sell your best domains how do you improve your portfolio? Bob's rug syndrome is what it sounds like...

Zero investment? Well... you better create value for yourself somehow.

Set yourself up as a broker to find buyers. Contact some domainers with quality names and offer your services with as favorable terms as possible to get a few clients.

Then, if you hustle, you may make money *and* contacts in the industry.

If you're not prepared to work hard, forget about it.

Its hard to part with the good ones. Waiting for end users is a gamble but when it/if happens, it pays off.

If you buy a great domain at a great price and someone makes a reasonable offer with a good ROI and you sell. You then have enough to purchase 2 great domains rather than holding on to the one you had. In the time you hold on to the one domain you could possibly replicate that many many times. Then you have a portfolio of great domains vs that one ;)! At that point you then have a better chance at selling to an end-user because you have many great domains instead of chancing it with one.

Oh I know. Its something I've thought about a lot, problem is once you sell that domain there is no promise of finding one just as good or better for a similar price. I might give it a shot once the economy improves.

I have been reading his threads, and the OP is by far the most bizarre person I've seen on NP.

Like any business more most certainly fail than succeed. I would imagine the ease of entering this business leads to even higher failure rates.

Excellent post Sameh -- echoes my thoughts exactly. Find something you're good at and go with it. For some people, maybe that's domaining, others website development, others still services such as logo design, other coding services, etc. Plenty of ways to make money online and certainly don't think you can't make money online just because you haven't had success yet with pure domaining.

Pure domaining might be a tough sell during a recession -- there are other alternatives and we see where most of the big players are going (hint: development)

You don't.

There is no easy fix. If you want success in any line of work then you must be prepared to work. This industry is like any other, there are no easy pathways.

Start by offering services. This is something I would recommend to any newb. Offer services, establish websites, get yourself known. Then you can start buying. Put yourself in a position where people want to do business with you. Get the people around you talking, think outside the box and build yourself a reputation.
