Yes I live in France and really registrars (especially the local leader, ionos) have invested a lot in advertising during the past 2 years. I remember at a time seeing almost only ionos ads in youtube even if i dont watch IT/domain related videos, same with friends.
Also the government started investing and helping companies turn digital during corona and is still continuing this.
In my city now there is even a small barber shop who have its own .fr website.
