Hosting Company Logo and Site Template Contest $125 U.S. to Winner

Type of Request : Hosting Site & Logo Design
Site Name: SiteHoster.Net
Payout: Logo $50, Site Template $75 ($125.00 total if you are the chosen designer for both). Payment via Paypal.
Size Requirements : None specifically, but large enough to support a clean look throughout. Core content should be centered, but the design should be dynamic to fit browser width
Color Requirements : Open to color formats, but would prefer a white background.

General Requirements :
The site will house a shared hosting company. We will be offering standard shared packages as well as one or two green hosting plans. I need a logo, and a site-wide template to include a home page listing our plans (Plan names are BaseCamp, Midway, and Summit) with room for the specs and features of each, a centered menu at the top of the design with links for Home, Products & Services, Order, Billing & Support, Community Forums, and Contact. Basic inspiration can be found at www.site5.com. While I reference Site5 as a basic idea, we, without question, are open to your collective creativity. The net result being an original design. I am considering using Joomla, but would am open to a straight, valid CSS / HTML layout as well.

Additional Information : Site will need to accommodate WHMCS billing and support engine, and a PHPBB-based forum. I have a clean installation of Joomla currently up and running at sitehoster.net, but I am not committed to using Joomla. If coding a template for Joomla is more difficult than valid CSS / HTML is fine.

UPDATE: For the logo, I am looking for something that is scalable that I can ultimately use in print and promotional materials (T-Shirts, Bumper Stickers, etc.). Looking for a distinct, original logo that isn't simply a server with SiteHoster.Net next to it. Let your creativity flow.

UPDATE #2: While I assumed it was understood, (my bad for assuming), I am looking for ORIGINAL designs only. I did not open this thread simply to be provided with commercial templates I could have easily bought myself. If you do not intend to provide original work, please do not bother participating. Thank you.

After winning design is selected, additional refinement & customization work will follow, so please include quoted rate for follow-up support as well.

All feedback will be made directly in the thread.

Thank you, good luck, I look forward to seeing your designs.

I'm primarily looking for the logo and layout. If you are interested in providing you rate for coding as well, I would certainly entertain it.

Thanks.

Excellent. I have seen some of your other work, and I look forward to your design.

spiderman123,

I would like a cleaner look to the home page with emphasis on our three core hosting plans (maybe above the text box?) From a color perspective, I would prefer something less flashy (earth tones or muted primary colors), and perhaps a different color to represent each plan type. As referenced in the original post, our plan names are going to be BaseCamp, Midway, and Summit, so something to graphically reflect each plan (stylized server icons, mountain silhouette with a flag at bottom, middle, top, etc.). Just a thought.

Keep up the good work.

While I hadn't set a formal end date, In the interest of giving everyone an appropriate amount of time to participate and revise, I would like to give it at least a week from today.

That was my first choice. However, from what I understand, that thread is closed for new posts. If I am mistaken, my apologies. I will gladly accept a move to the contests thread if need be.

Good start. I'm not terribly fond of the starburst behind the beginning, but the rack concept has potential. From a color perspective, I'm not crazy about the blue. In addition to standard hosting plans, we will be offering a few green, eco-friendly options, so something that captures that aspect of the business would work. Think in terms of earth-tones or muted primaries. Lastly, the font seems a bit on the generic side.

Many thanks for the submission, and keep up the good work.

Weblord,

With regard to the logo, I like the concept of the stylized initials "SH" being included in the design. However, it is a bit too abstract for my taste. Additionally, I would like to see them to the side vs. on top of the text to keep the entire thing more of a horizontal layout. The yellow and green color scheme, however, reminds me very much of Waste Management http://www.wm.com/index.asp Something more subdued would be a move in the right direction (for both logo and template).

The template has some of the components I am looking for (basic plan name layout , but I want a cleaner look for the landing page. I want to hit the visitor with the name of our company, plan names and options, a minimal amount of "Latest News" / "What's new?", Domain Availability, and not much else. I am really shooting for a clean, un-cluttered look. Less text, more graphical. This http://www.us2.net/ and this http://www.spry.com/ and this http://www.linode.com/ have more of the feel of examples of what I would like to see. I would think about eliminating the grid / hand pattern at the top, make the boxes with the plan names more prominent and bring them up under the nav menu. If you got rid of the login box and the site search box, and provided a more graphical appearance overall, it would be more along the lines of what I am looking for.

Thanks for your efforts thus far, and please keep up the good work.

I appreciate your participation, but I am looking for original work, not commercially available template library content. I have seen all three of your designs in the past.

If you would like to submit an original design, I will gladly consider it.
