What's wrong with these numbers ?
https://www.theregister.com/2022/12/22/idc_ar_vr_hardware_predictions/

They are comparing VR/AR HMD's sales to PC's and Tablets in a projection. Who's sales are likely going to be down, for the number one buyer of these is enterprise. And it is enterprise that is switching alot of it's tech buys to HMD's in select fields. The Quest Pro was specificlly designed for enterprise, but finds it's way into the consumer market as well.

Just something to chew on. We are unlikely so see the sales of xmas till late jan-march and Meta is quite unless they want to encourage investors. A lot of you have been following these projections and learned not to take them at face value anymore on the up or down side.

As I see it, everyone is waiting to get past this xmas season and announce their next plays they have been working on for years. So even if this xmas is a bit of a bummer (I doubt), it will have no affect on things going forward.
For those in the US, you know the consumer market is still strong, but the rest of the world is having issues.
Can't wait for some CES reveals and some may not wait till the event. Everything is just fine.
I have been repricing many of my names to reflect a better outlook for next year and beyond. It's warranted.

May a gift certificate for a Apple HMD be laying under your tree xmas day !
Merry Christmas !

Wow, can this be real? Elad sold it a year ago for quite a sum (still nowhere near its value) and the new owner just let it drop? I would for sure have paid $5K for it. VRCams was also a steal.

I think it is important to note that the price is speculative still as these are unlikely end users.
Still a plus no matter how you want to view it.

I think the surprise is it seems many stopped watching the dropped list, including me.... LOL

Something to look forward to ! I doubt they can tease us anymore ! But could be AppleTV related ? Nah...

I had figured that while it's likely we will see some VR/AR announcements with preview at CES 2023
https://www.ces.tech/
More CO's with something to show or say will do so before and after the CES event which is
Jan 5-8 2023
Looks like Apple is carving out their space. Icing on the cake ?

Agree $5000 is low, but felt Elad/MetaverseBranding got a great deal for XRP*rn. ShortStories dot com + cash i believe.

Was a big fan of the 'short stories' domain, i commented about it a few times in the forums, felt with the right development it could have been a big money making site.

And some are delusional
Yea.

I made enough in XR to call it a great investment, was better for me than AR and VR so feeling good about it.

Never really got over letting it go :)
XRP*rn or ShortStories?

If XRP*rn, don't get me wrong its a nice name, but Meta/Metaverse became what XR was supposed to be and even that is now in trouble in itself, people calling Mark Z's 'Metaverse' vision doomed to fail.

That is the problem investing in future tech, it's like buying a lottery ticket, for example you can be the owner of NFTs dot com, that previous owners wanted to sell for under $20k just 2 years ago before NFT's became a thing but because it did become a thing it ended up making them $15 million, stories like that are rare though, more times than not investing in future tech you can have a domain that 'looks' the next big thing 1 month but a month later it becomes obsolete.

You did well in my opinion, I'm not sure what ShortStories sold for but if you sold that under $30k, i would be regreting that a lot more.

Nice to see you still around @Kingslayer

I did like short stories as well but was pleased with the profit and reinvestment we made.

Giving the potential Apple announcement additional thought...

I think it is more likely that while Apple may have originally planned to announce the HMD in Jan,

This is likely delayed by production issues that would keep the bulk them them from being delivered timely.

It is more likely, that they will announce the MAC PRO

With M2 Ultra and Extreme CPU's that sport 24 and 48 cpu cores and 256gb ram. (likely one of these is going in the HMD)

After all, you will need a great platform to create code for the HMD and those SOC's are a powerhouse like we have never seen before. Looks like it is made for editing high res 3DVR video with ease.

Can't see this stuff being cheap either.

So we may be waiting for WWDC for the HMD announcement in June?

They certainly have everyone's attention with the mystery.

Whenever the announcement for the HMD, I would expect some lead time before delivery as they do still have to pump out dev kits.

But if all of this sparks some domain flippers, that is good as well. I'm sure we will see some more domain action leading up to this. It's not widely speculated yet, but it will soon be.
