The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

MR and AR are still higher but that most likely is because it also means different things like Mister (MR.) instead of mixed reality and AR for rifles/guns etc. instead of augmented reality, so naturally they have more searches because they mean more things. But this graph clearly shows the importance of XR indeed, which is almost equal to VR since around 2018/2019 and even briefly surpassed VR.

I might guess that after Apple's move, my ARSmartGoggles is getting a good many hits.
It is a smart device since it has voice control at some level. Which only makes sense if you want to do things without taking the device off to do so.
Perhaps this will move a bit sooner than I thought. But still a ways off I think. The market has yet to broaden out.
11+ years now on this name, I think I can wait it out.

At least I have been seeing some action with investors since the announcement on many fronts. But my bet is most are going after words that Apple used during WWDC. It always happens.
But after a look at the last DNJ sales report, It looks as if things are down a bit overall. Have to watch to see if it is a trend.

I might point out that Google and Samsung have had a partnership of some sorts for a while now and Google is driving twards MR operating system modeled under android. And Samsung is a chip maker, and a very good one at that, and I can't see them letting the tech pass them by.
hmmm....
I would be extremely surprised if you ever sold ARSmartGoggles. I don't want to discourage you brim domaining, but you're the founder of this thread and have been here WAY TOO LONG to not understand how terrible ARSmartGoggles is. And you've been holding it for 11 years??!?! I find that deeply disturbing considering how long and active you've been in this thread. Times change. Trends change. You've got to keep up.

This is just tough, honest criticism. Don't take it the wrong way. I've never seen you report a sale, And You've been here forever, so maybe domaining for a profit isn't your priority, I don't know.

But as a seasoned member of this site, you should understand by now the importance of *popular* keywords and the number of keywords in a single domain, in relation to sales statistics.

ArP@[email protected] sold

I am very proud that Pb Web Media Company has purchased this premium Ar adult domain. After emailing me with an initial offer to purchase this premium adult ar dot com. Negotiations went back and forth finally we agreed on a price.

The deal has come with a strict privacy agreement that the sale price must not be published in any form so i am not aloud to dis close the sale price but i am very very happy with the price that was achieved .

This is a great start for AR names and especially ar adult names too .

Also i would like to thank two of my mates who are always there @Elad n @NamePov

Mixed Reality will NOT win out. Reminds me of when IoT first started emerging/trending as a keyword 12- 15 years ago and Qualcomm and a consortium tried to rally with the term IoE which made sense except no one cared to change terminology despite some prestigious companies/persons trying to push it. IoT was enough and if you go to Qualcomm website today... it's all IoT. Some domainers invested in IoE despite it nontheless and lost money, I mean almost no sales..... XR conveys what it needs to convey and has been embraced en masse and the branding usage is clear- very hard to for something else to win out.

I missed that one too lol and remember thinking shit i would have bought it was a great buy plus think was near time elad sold xrPorn
If I remember correctly there were less than 10 bidders last year, btw how much did Elad sell xrporn for?

Edit: Nevermind, got the answer: "XRporn(.)com Purchased September 2017 dropcatch 89$ Sold June 2019 private inbound Negotiated a sum of 12.5k." Seems to be an investor as it is pointed to Efty landers now, crazy amount, comparing with x/r/s/e/x which sold for only 3 digits in 2021 on SnapNames lol

Only a couple VR names in my portfolio, but they're pretty strong.

UK/VR (com)

I'm now able to report a recent "Holo" related sale...

HoloClass / com out the door at DAN for $3k USD... (Admittedly, a smallish sale, but still serves as near-term validation for the future branding value of "Holo" names...IMHO... (y) :xf.wink: )

Holo domains have never been about Microsoft (even though the publicity helps), people were investing in these way before hololens came about and companies have been using the term way before Microsoft launched Hololens

Keep your good Holo names, but only if they are top names, its the same with every niche, if the name is average, it wont sell, whether VR, MR or HOLO. If you are sitting on 100s of HOLO names, get rid of them and keep your top 10-20 names, those are the ones that will sell. Don't get discouraged because 1 or 2 people on a forum say "Holo is dead", it doesnt work like that. I regged some of my holo names in 2009/2010 and the offers on them have gradually increased, especially over the last 18 months.

There will always be value in the decent ones and the value will increase in the next few years with companies launching holo products

What MS does with with or calls their hololens product will have no bearing on this...its about holograms, holographics etc...not Hololens

Thats my strategy anyway :xf.smile:

Investments in augmented and virtual reality skyrocketing:
Worldwide revenues for the augmented reality and virtual reality market are forecast to rise by 100 percent or more over each of the next four years, according to a new report from International Data Corp. Total spending on AR/VR products and services is expected to jump from $11.4 billion in 2017 to nearly $215 billion 2021, for a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 113 percent. The U.S. will be the region with the largest AR/VR spending total in 2017 ($3.2 billion).

Ya know, I have listened to the spew on hype cycle many times the last 10 years just for this niche.
Every time the chart looks different.

The simple fact is that until there are plenty of HMD's in the field, this is not going to grow for names.

With that in mind, we have seen the beginning of exponential growth, that still needs to be tracked, but it looks like it is there. But as far as names sales for next year, I am sure there will be plenty and most of them will be investor speculation, but the valuations will be much higher.

It's 2024 and beyond that I see the real end user market for the names. I am not saying none in 23.
There are still to many unknowns in this market to be super confident about many segments that we are all likely holding at least some of. Segments will not all happen at once.

But it should not matter to you who is buying it if they meet your price expectations.
You can never look back and wonder if you left money on the table. Worry about the next sale.
But this does not just go BOOM ! It's a evolving process. And it's evolving before your eyes.

So lets all hope there is enough money to go around for these highly capable next gen devices and puts some hype back into the industry. That is the cycle that counts. The industry needs content creators and they need names.
Maybe James just said to sell in 2023 so he can buy them lol good post @VRdommy and I agree completely!

Check out this search data by Google Keyword Planner and Estibot.

What stands out is that XR and MR are the least searched for of the bunch and VR is still way better with 550,000 exact match searches/month and XR with only 18,100 exact match searches/month, it may be growing, but it is miles away from the keyword VR, which is still the best. Things can change, but for now VR is king.

Facebook moving more towards XR branding
Of course they will. They are using Qualcomm Snapdragon XR chips for the Quest. And Qualcomm has their own XROS.(not for a user OS, but for a dev platform OS)
But only in the stand-alones so far.
Not something you will see Apple doing as they have their own chips and OS. Surely to be branded in some way with Apple.
But what is Microsoft up to?

Very, VERY few domain investors are fortunate enough to have more than 5 XR related sales in the 4 figure range or higher. DNJournal only reports sales in the 4 figure range or higher.
I actually believe that.
And I am not sure who is all that interested in sales under 2k unless that is your market target.

The question remains. Who might be buying them. If it is other investors then there is no real market.
But you all can continue selling among yourselves at whatever $$$ level you wish to play.
Use those sale as incentive to spend even more.

Surely there will be "some" end use.
There were some high dollar end use sales not related to this niche.
Proof one can get lucky since xr can mean other things.
