Do you guys think that cue sports like snooker and pool would work in VR? Seems to me you would only need a slight haptic feedback in the controllers to represent the gentle resting of a hand on the table. I'm asking because I own snooker vr in king and am thinking of actually attempting to build a game for it myself (maybe eventually hire developers to help in the long run).

I've been in this niche for 6 years and in every single one of them, we expected something from Apple. With the current shortage of semiconductors, I'd be very surprised if they'll reveal any piece of VR/AR hardware this year.
Yes, it's frustrating and the lockdowns in China wont help. The PSVR 2 will likely be delayed until next year too. Still, we just have to be patient, 2023 and 2024 are going to be pretty awesome for VR/AR.

I'm sure you know I have been stalling folks expectations over the years on this a other things.
Ya know parts shortages is yet some other part of the issues.
But when I decided to say anything about it, I was fairly confident it was not going to be much of a issue from this point forward for this device anyway. But likely will have more of a effect on the pricing.

TSMC will be making Apple's 5nm chip and I don't expect it in a iPhone right away unless they make a special version for it and or they put the device directly in the VR/MR device which is a high possibility for a stand alone device.
Fully throttled it will consume 60watts, a good 100 watts less than Intel's fastest PC CPU. And in a VR/MR device that can carry extra battery and provide additional cooling makes this M1ultra a perfect fit. It simply will be the fastest CPU in the consumer market. This thing is made for 3D media (as it looks).

It is the key device in changing this market in my eyes. It will make a new standard.
I don't expect a all out growth on this at first. It takes competition to drive that and it looks like Apple will be alone on top for perhaps a few years. But one never knows for sure what Qualcomm may have up their sleeve but I still doubt anyone can catch-up to this in short of 2 years once deployed.

SO, I will keep my fingers crossed for a Apple HMD inside of 1 year. The only question from me is, can we afford it.

Many of you know I have been fond of the terms teleport/er and holodeck for many years.
I could visualize where the industry was going to lead... eventually.
So, in my reading, what a surprise to see Microsoft use the term 'HOLOPORTATION'
... keep in mind this is a MS term for a eventual product. Basically, the two terms combined.
So, check this out...
https://www.forbes.com/sites/naveen...change-the-future-of-work-with-holoportation/

My 2 fav dom's in this field... teleporter.tours and holodeck.vacations but I have them in the .com's as well.
Should make nice packages. But it will be some time yet before they are ripe for picking.

I think things might shake up very quickly when the Project Cambria (or 'Oculus Quest 2 Pro) is released later this year, as far as the terminology is concerned. I've already read of Quest 2 users making lots of ingenious uses of the crude, B&W passthrough of that headset. Mixed reality is just several months away, and it could be bigger than VR quite quickly, certainly as soon as the Apple headset is finally released.

I had seen that earlier in the week...
And Sony making claims they can double/triple production at launch, but can't find that article now.
(we all know they could not keep up with initial demand on previous release).
I have read that 117 million PS4 consoles have been sold in total. 6 million PSVR 1 headsets were sold, so something like 5% of PS4 owners bought a PSVR headset (including of course people who bought both at the same time). 19 million PS5 consoles have so far been sold, and the Sony CEO recently stated he expects that to ramp up over the next year and have over 37 million sold by March 2023. I think we could get to 5 million PSVR2 headset sales very quickly, especially if it does get released in time for the holiday season.

For comparison, 11.2 million VR headsets were sold in 2021, 80% of them Oculus Quest 2s.

There is no doubt, looking at trends that we have seen and making a map for the future, this xmas is going to be a special one where we can finally say, IT HAS BEGUN.
I seriously expect Apple's product within the next year, I don't think the masses will be able to afford it, but it should set a new benchmark to beat, which I doubt many will be as good for the money, for now.

But all of this comes down to one thing, HMD's in consumer hands. The software dev's will have a market.
That gives us a market for names, that I know I have been holding many for a decade or more.
I think I still hold about 40-50 for this niche that I have held for more than 10 years.
The best ones will likely will not see a value I envision for perhaps 4-6 or more years when the market tightens up.

VR casino/gambling names are likely a bit behind adoption rates,
or, so indicated in this...
https://mymmanews.com/what-a-growth-in-vr-means-for-online-casinos/

While all would find it a bit intuitive to see this in a traditional sense,
Likely, it will take the form of gaming before any of this. By that I mean gaming competitions.
Of course, that is a skill and not chance. But they have certainly proven itself with 2d environments.
Just looking into the future gen that are now coming up in a vr world.
Perhaps something of chance we have not yet imagined ? It has to be more engaging than the old way.

I have few names in this cat but they are keepers if this does turn into anything.
Thinking we are a few more years of waiting to even find out.

But, in other news of recent, Apple MR is a no show at WWDC
And we are hearing about the second gen device already... (likely a cheaper model of nearly the same)
https://gizmodo.com/apple-ar-vr-lg-sony-micro-oled-headset-second-gen-oculu-1849053802
I'd say we are going to see some announcement in the next 6-10 months.

I have a couple of half-decent AR poker domains. Unfortunately, as the promotion of gambling is illegal where I am, I can't develop them or monetize them.

I do think casinos, poker are going to be huge in AR/VR. You could play poker on your own table with your (remote) friends. I've read that some affiliates of poker sites earn millions.

Meanwhile, I found this interesting : https://uploadvr.com/meta-codec-avatars-iphone-scan/

I personally think that Facebook is missing the point with this tech. People don't want to go to the metaverse to look exactly as they do in the real world. They want to escape reality. Those face scans aren't very flattering, haha....maybe they can make it so that a user can manipulate the way they look in the same way filters work. I don't know...just thinking out loud.

This industry has evolved. VR is now less preferred in branding than Metaverse now. It used to be the opposite. AR may not suffer the same fate, because Apple seems to like it a lot. But let's see if Apple uses "metaverse" in it's marketing strategy.
