The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Intel and Paramount Pictures are making a version of the movie Grease in volumetric video.

Yeah, another member said they sold it a couple of pages back.

I have VRCastings.com . I guess it was an end user, but I'd certainly sell my name for that amount right now.

I would say make a pitch now for half as much
OR
Wait till /if it succeeds well and ask the same. but I would put up a static page with some relevant keywords and grab some analytics to see how much traffic bleed it gets. You may determine then it has a even higher value. But don't wait for them to launch to do something like that with it.

I wouldn't even say that adult VR has a bright future at this point (maybe 10 or 20 years time).

Adult VR paysites are going out of business as we speak.

Don't assume that VRCasting was sold as an adult name.

I owned over 300 adult holo names, letting most drop (I think your name was mine).

Yes, the occasional name will sell, perhaps in the $2,000 ball park or so , but just 10 names cost $100+ a year to renew.

I still expect a lot of AR companies to brand as holo (and of course, AR smut sites), but AR looks to be taking longer to take off than expected as well.

The reason I haven't been to this board for months is because I recognized I had an almost clinical addiction to certain names, above all Holo. I had over 300 at one point.

IMO I foresee AR companies branding as simply AR+Keyword and Keyword+AR and not holo so much. Some definitely will but not outpacing just AR. I don't think holo+keyword is a bad play though by any means for premiums.

AR right now is slow domain wise... but honestly I think it's right where it's supposed to be. I have a larger then most AR portfolio, what excites me now is that I'm starting to see a little bit of action on some of the brandables. But like all things in this niche--- only time will truly tell. One last things... I monitor this space with software and there are a number of sales that have gone unreported. Lot's of new sites popping up :)

I believe that most will probably be surprised at the wide range of choices company's have for branding in both VR & AR and you can't form any kind of monopoly on a keyword, not even for a segment but I see many have tried.
Those of you that collect strong keywords will have to wait till we have a 'vibrant market' in 3-4 years for VR and 6-9 for AR to get 'premium value' for the better keywords. Not that you will not be able to sell them for less before then. When there are fewer choices and most of those are not so great the better names will shine. You must know your value and 'hold-out' for it.

Pretty simple... the market is not here yet even if all the products would be on the shelf. And that is not the case yet. This just can't 'meet the masses' until the pricing is under a smartphone.
Some of these stand-alone VR Goggles are probably the first to meet the market head-on. And they are just now coming around.

I agree VR needs to get better for it to go mainstream, but end of the day Red Dead Redemption 2 (just 1 game) took 8 years to make, Oculus first started their kick-starter to get VR to go mainstream (a whole industry) just 6/7 years ago, it takes time.

I’ve said it before I don’t think abbreviations like ‘XR’ helps things and seeing a lot more of ‘Spatial Computing’ now which is even worse.

Weird how you used this as yet another opportunity to debate about XR lol. You need to just let it go man. XR has nothing to do with the subject to be honest...

I'm not trying to start a debate anything, I'm merely giving an opinion. Clearly you are trying to start some kind of 'negative' debate off posting what you above and what you did previous page, but everyone knows how you work, how you like attention/confrontation and making mountains out of molehills.

I can see where your opinions are formed. I understand them anyway.

But truth be known, VR hasn't a install base of hardware yet. !0-25M is only a starting point.
We need to see 150-250M units out there (WW).
And that is not going to change till the pricing comes a little more in reach for common folks.
Lets face it, to get someone to spend $500 or more on a complete set-up, there needs to be a couple of apps that are pretty compelling.
So with the hardware in a bit of a limited state, so does the software for those compelling experiances.

It's not to infer that this is not growing. Just not at a rate most of us would like to see.
I honestly believe some of these stand-alones in the price range of $350 are going to change that when they get here. And you always have the high end Vive as a better example of what can be done.
Let's not forget a lot of the hardware that was shown in 'peek-a-boo' form is yet to be released this year and a lot of it in the coming month or two.

So when you look at AR, how can you think that it is going to fly or shine any time soon.
The install base of hardware is almost non-existent.

I still contend that the tech is moving well, just not as fast as most of us had believed.
Everyone knows I have always tried to calm those with hyped expectations but even I am a bit disappointed in the speed of this. Just the same it is still clear to me what must happen to get to that growth level we are expecting.

But keep your eyes on the news over the next few months for the latest hardware in both VR and AR.
I believe it will at least be getting the attention it deserves. And we can only hope for some compelling content to go with some of that new hardware.

I am still interested in 4thQ sales for last year. Good hard numbers, not estimates.
I'm quite busy as of late so if someone catches those reports, please post a link.
