Background:
Car rental (US) or car hire (UK) business is primarily driven by paid search campaigns. So the major companies stick to their brandables in order to cash in with the brand traffic from former clients. If they go generic, then only for a killer .com name (eg. carhire3000 rebranding to rentalcars.com a few years back). hirecars.org is a nice domain to be used in an offline (e.g. billboard) campaign for tracking purposes (redirects from this domain counted as actions resulting from the ad), however, no major budget would be spend for this purpose.

Car hire is a high advertising spend sector, so your domain is for a good sector.
As someone else has said, the big companies will use brand names.

hirecars.org - As you probably know, this kind of domain would have done well in the early days of Google, when exact match domains were boosted. So, back then it would have been very attractive. Now that boost is gone, it is less attractive to affiliates. However, the domain still has some merits:

- Short and to the point
- Has the exact keyword in the domain so may help click through rate

So, there might be some appeal to an affiliate. I would probably publicise well and put it to auction.
