The story of Gregory Wilkonson; the semi-literate, yet lovable, self-proclaimed "Best Web Designer On Earth" who has served quite a bit of time for the theft of 140 modems in 1989 (when a modem cost over $1600), and has recently obliviously re-entered into society to "design web sites for everybody"......is of course, fake and completely made up!
This Domain; BestWebDesignerOnEarth.com was registered and launched in the week of March 1st, 2008 and was leaked with 1 post on a web design related forum. The site that viewers came to was the "Gregory Wilkonson" page and many believed it was real as the character struck a note which many could relate to. Within days, the sites was being spread like wildfire throughout the Internet by people referring it to others for a quick laugh and posting it on other forums, sites and blogs. By March 2nd , the site reached the Alexa average rank of 40,000th most popular site on the entire Internet with thousands of back links on other sites and blogs. The site was then flipped to this current version on March 6th to offer users the basic yet most fundamental steps in effective web design. Steps which I believe are worth gold and are in many ways - giving out my best secrets. I Would like to sell this week to top bid. I have way too many sites to manage and would like to focus on my core ones. This site/domain was never intended to morph into this - but it has been great to me so far, and has passed along 1000's of free hits to my other sites. I would love to hold on to it - it will only make more profits and gain more value as time goes on...every few days traffic explodes temparily as someone posts on a big site or blog - so there is always room for way more noise to come from this site. But I would like to think that soon i can visit the site when it is owned by someone or a network that can work it and see the forums packed and the site developed deeper - more pages...more profit!
