Quick little thought experiment. I'm just curious how many people here would be willing to develop / direct their main personal web site to be a .xyz domain? Say for example, if you owned <firstname>,xyz? Would you be willing to use it or would you continue to wait for something "better," e.g: <firstname>.me, <firstname>.com, etc. Granted, for most first names the .me or .com varient would be out of reach, ridiculously expensive.

I was thinking about this recently because I was wondering how ridiculous or confusing a .xyz personal web site would be or sound to most non-domainers. Like if your .xyz were on your business card or if you were giving it out over the phone to a client or person, do you think in mid-2017 that most people would just be like 'uhhhhh x-y... what?'

Thanks for any responses :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Also I had a few inquiries on my personal names .PRO

+ I saw many in use... like Director of Product Management at Facebook: quid.pro/about-me/

G's will die. It will happen im looking into my magic crystal ball. It said gtlds are fools gold. If you feel bold. Do as u please you will loose your cheese.

I got two magic crystal balls and I am feeling bold :xf.wink:

I am pretty sure that there will be historic sales with some of the new gTLDs.

Casino.Online sold for $201250 this year, and I believe we will see million dollar sales as well.

I don`t think you have such position to tell me what to do with my money. Clean your chin Homer!

I don`t buy your bs, that is it.

You say new gTLDs are worthless and they will die and the fact is one of them sold for $201250 this year.

That`s really smart of you.

Stop talking about everyone else`s sales? Really?

I think you should stop talking about things that you have no idea.

Whoever spent 200k on casino.online just wasted 200k they will realize that in a few years

Yeah, one isolated sale out of 25M+ registrations clearly shows a healthy and booming market....
I couldn't be bothered looking it up, but I assume the domain was also registry reserved.

Might as well just play the lottery, the odds are better.

I am not sure if you are able to read my signature cause I can read yours.

What makes you think that I have not invested on new gTLDs, LoL

Your avatar is cute, go ahead and post your real one I am sure it is cuter than your current one.:glasses:

You don`t sell .COM btw, you sell a domain and you seem to be a full time domainer right, like selling few every week? :sneaky:

If we are going in to discuss whose budget is larger kind of conversation here, than I am out. cause that`s not my style no matter how I feel confident about it.

You made a wrong point and I just corrected you with a recent sale of 200K

What do I have to do with those 25M+ registry sales or their drops?

I am a private investor and those numbers are not my concern.

We saw that new gTLDs can reach over 200K in price for some investors, that is the whole point.

It was yet another registry sale. Domainers never make sales like these in new extensions, in fact they usually don't have a chance to get those (registry-reserved) keywords unless they pay dearly.
Just saying.
It's important to realize the casino is there and you are here.

of almost all the new GtldS .xyz is the most unattractive to me, No .xyz for me, or any other GtldS either.

CCtlds make sense,I don't own any more, but, GtldS were made for domainers to buy and registerys to make millions off of, in my opinion. Childs Play so to speak.

Who. Cares. The people here are not going to change the market ultimately. It's the end user. Go ask this question on a horse forum or something

Here the truth.

Domainers, if lucky, will sell the registries scraps for 3 figures.

A 200k sale with a newG, for domainers, is and will remain only a dream.

It is really interesting how you think it matters, yes it was a registry sale and yes it was a new gTLD that sold for 6 figures.

It really doesn`t matter if its a registry sale or not, what matters is an investor saw a 6 figure value on a new gTLD.

Here the truth.

@mpls how come a 3 figure domain can be Premium, I don`t understand that.

On your signature you are selling new gTLDs with .club extension and you call them Premiums.

Than you say here is the truth they won`t worth more than 3 figures cause they are new gTLDs?

Thats funny.

Remember saying that when an investor hits up 200K> sale

it is a well known fact that the nGTLD program is mostly dead. There will always be a few outliers (see sex.xxx for example) but as a whole nGTLDs will turn out to be poor investment vehicles for most investors. new extensions can perform for a few years and die a slow death only to be replaced by a newly launched 'hot' extension.

they do not produce lasting value.. the life cycle for newly launched extensions is as follows:

1. Hype Stage (We will replace .com)
2. Decline/Denial Stage (It takes time to become big)
3. Zombie Stage (Let's not talk about our losses)

After the zombie stage, new extensions are launched and new investors are suckered in buying into the next big thing.

We are now in stage 2.

I don`t understand this new gTLD vs com competition at all.

There are millions of .coms drops each week, millions. But so what?

It doesn`t mean that you will hit a million dollar sale if you own an extension(com or new G). What is important is the quality of your domain.

Another great example of a new gTLD sale: sex.xxx sold for 3 Million Dollars.

Thanks.
