I'd like to find some forums and blogs that allow search engines to index and follow signature links. I'm not a spammer, but I would like to find places where I can contribute quality content and get rewarded by it with backlinks. Please let me know where such websites exist.

Well there is no real evidence to show that forums and blogs allow search engines to index and follow signature links. I have seen a few people say that if the overall PageRank of a forum is good then it does help you signature link(s).

Pretty much every forum allows sigs to be followed, only a few i know that dosent. The old un upgraded blogs will still allow it also, just search on google for whatever type of blog and go to the back pages to find the poorly ranked and most likely not updated blogs.

Huh? Unless otherwise specified in the code then all links in forums and blogs will be spidered just like on any other website. Unless they are using rel="nofollow" for signature links then it will be spidered. Sig links arent valued as much by search engines but they still follow them.

I think most of the forums are allowing signatures. you only just to google what type of community you wanted to join. ;)

Hmm, I was under the impression that many forums have code in place to only show signature links to register users and not guests or search engines. Is this not so? Sitepoint.com is one such forum where I beleive this is true.

vbulletin has a plugin to stop sig spamming. I believe most updated forums have that in place. MOST of them!!

With this plugin is everyone's sig ignored by se's or is it manually turned on for each user that is considered to have a spam sig?

I think sig on most forum allowed to index.. unless you find the tags like rel=nofollow and meta noindex nofollow...

the signatures on my forums are only visible to registered users. I dont want one of my competitors to sign up and deliberatly link to me to a bad neighbourhood.

So, that's all you have to look for? Can't something be placed in the robots.txt file instead, though?

if there is a forum that index sig links, it would have been a spam already, imagine if you have 3,000+ posts your url will appear to be 3,000 which is already repetitive in nonsense way. :imho:

Does anyone notice that posting on this forum with a signature link gives that link a significant boost in the serps for the anchor text that you use?
