Has the market for 3 and more keyword names died?

I'm in the middle of my usual morning coffee break cruise through the drop and expired lists. I've noticed that over the last few days, a lot of keyword rich names have been dropping, and they aren't being picked up. Many of them have estimated click values of over $100 - ie. one click would pay the reg fees on at least 10 of them. I know search engines are putting more emphasis on content, but these drops make me think that there is quite a shift going on in domain name use. Maybe it would be better to use sub-directories or sub-domains if one is looking for income.

If they are call to action domains I would say there is still a market.
Otherwise the number of alternatives becomes exponentially higher when you diving into the realm of 3-keyword domains.
There are still plenty of decent handregs to be found but it's just that - decent names but not aftermarket-grade.

Perhaps it has something to do with the ever constant Google algo updates ? Maybe 3 word domains are no longer has seo value?

It depends on the combination of words imo. When the third word makes the domain more specific to a market they can have value. I've sold 5 three word .coms so far this year ranging from low $xxx-$xxxx. (4 outbound and 1 inbound).

If you're going to dabble in them, stick to call to action and be very selective with your grabs for other kw domains. Consider all other options an end user may have before opening your wallet.

Obviously it's worth it, or people wouldn't pay for the traffic, but $600 for a surfer visit? I wonder what the conversion rate is.
